Portable, convenient, and packed with power and effects!

The durable, lightweight Yamaha EMX212S 12-Channel Powered Mixer has dual 200W amps, 16 Yamaha SPX effects, built-in graphic EQs, and loads of input options.

Flexible power
The power mode switch lets you use the dual power channels as a stereo amplifier, or use one channel for the main speakers and one for the monitors, with separate monitor mix setup via the channel MONITOR controls.

SPX digital effects

16 Yamaha SPX effects—including reverb, echo, chorus, flanger, phaser, and even distortion—let you add the finishing touches to your live presentation.

Graphic EQs
Graphic equalizers are provided for both the main and monitor power channels so you can effectively control feedback or tailor the sound to match the room and program material.

Input options
The Yamaha EMX212SC offers a total of 12 input channels—4 for monaural microphone (with phantom power) or line input, plus 4 pairs that can function either as monaural mic inputs or stereo line inputs—providing a versatile mix of input capabilities for a wide range of applications. If only mic inputs are needed, you can use up to 8 mic channels. If you want to play recorded background music during breaks using a stereo input, and have a keyboard player with stereo outputs, you still have 6 mic/line inputs available. If all 4 stereo pairs are used to handle stereo line sources, you still have 4 channels available for mono mic or line input. It's a versatile system that can adapt to your needs with ease!

Yamaha Speaker Processing

Yamaha Speaker Processing (YSP) provides optimized matching with speakers, for clean, solid reproduction that will deliver your music with maximum impact.

FCL (Feedback Channel Locator) system
The Yamaha FCL (Feedback Channel Locating) system makes locating and eliminating feedback easier than ever. FCL indicators provided on each input channel indicate which channel feedback is occurring in, so you can identify it visually and adjust levels or EQ as required. Another handy features is a Standby switch that mutes channels 1 through 8 so that, for example, after rehearsal or between sets you can mute performer's inputs 1 through 8 without having to change fader settings, while stereo inputs 9 through 12 remain active for background music playback.

Durable, lightweight design
At only 22 pounds and featuring conveniently located handles, the EMX212S powered mixer is easy to transport. It's built to withstand the rigors of the road and deliver reliable performance, night after night.

I play in a band, and do sound for other bands. Mostly small shows. We use this mixer in practice and I find myself setting it up for a show most weekends. It gets a TON of use. We've had it for about a year now and haven't had a single issue with it. Very tough. The sound quality was a nice surprise. Whatever that "YSP" yamaha speaker processing is, I don't know, it doesn't seem to do anything. However the sound of this mixer is very clear. The effects are definitely usable. Well, I can vouch for the reverb and chorus.
I love this thing, however, one complaint. You can only run one channel at 4ohms. Pretty much all my speakers run 8 ohms, when two are ran in parallel that's 4 ohms. So really, you can run 1 main and 1 monitor, or 2 mains, or 2 monitors. Which is fine, I just didn't understand this when I bought it. We got around this by running powered mackies as the mains and saving the onboard amp for the monitors.
Oh, also, there is no mic gain knob. Just a button that switches between line/mic. Still works, and it sounds great. You'll like this mixer

Let me start by saying this mixer is well built, has plenty of inputs, and the effects are ok. However the description of this powered mixer is a little deceiving. The description states this mixer has two 200 Watt amplifiers. What they don't say is that is 200 watts per channel at 4 ohms, when most folks have 8 ohm speakers. The power for 8 ohm speakers is 130 watts per channel. I ordered this powered mixer for my home studio to use with a set of Yamaha Club Series 12 inch PA speakers, and this head could not even keep up with a 25 watt guitar amplifier (clean). This powered mixer is not loud at all. 135 watts per channel should be more than plenty for a small studio, but this thing has no power to back up the great features and durable build of the unit. I could not believe the lack of power this thing had, so I sent it back and got something bigger. Bottom line is, nice mixer but not enough power for much of anything.
Lots of great features, inputs, and effects, but not enough power (wattage) for even the smallest of gigs. The description of power is misleading.
Again, this is a quality built powered mixer, but lacks power to be great! Not very loud at all.
Considering the low power (wattage) of this unit, there are better deals out there.

Comments about Yamaha EMX212S 12-Channel Powered Mixer:

I bought this unit as a backup PA for an acoustic duo, strictly for vocals. We use a Yamaha EMX66M, the older version of this unit. I have no real complaints about this product except for the fact that the sound quality seems a bit harsher than the EMX66M, which seems warmer by comparison. Yamaha has always made quality products and this is no exception....

Comments about Yamaha EMX212S 12-Channel Powered Mixer:

I got this unit for band practice and small jams. It works very well in a closed room and 200/200W can power small live performances.

The downside is it does not have any balance/pan controls. It only has a few stereo inputs, and you can't hard pan L/R the mono to create additional stereo.

But - the sound is very good and the FX do a decent job. I think it is a bit pricey here, so wait until you have a coupon!

Very powerful when running both amps through my 12 inch mains. I use a powered monitor and everything sounds great for my solo act. I'm sure it would work for small band gigs too

It's light & rugged, the recessed controls Helps To prevent damage. Light enough to carry one-handed freeing up your other hand to carry another piece of equipment. This quickens set-up & take-down. Sounds great with my Bose 302s & Yamaha powered sub-woofer.

The SPX digital effect processor didn't work. the power indicator light would glow, but no matter where the selector & paramater switches were positioned & the effect controls were turned, it had no effect--no change in the sound at all. I called your office & was told to send it back, free of charge, and made arrangements to pay a little extra & you would send me a new one, instead of a restock. I sent it back on 1/2/2013.

I've owned and used this mixer for the last 3 years playing both inside and outside gigs. Coupled with Yamaha 12" 2-way speakers and a Yamaha Sub, I have plenty of volume to cover 250-300 people. The gear is bullet-proof, it works each and every time and it is lightweight. Yeah if you are a big band you'll need something more powerful, thats just common sense. For us single or duo acts, this rig does just fine. Yamaha quality is top drawer!
