Pristine, professional preamps for standout digital audio.
The centerpieces of this mLan-based Yamaha i88X Rackmount Audio/MIDI Interface are the first 2 input channels featuring extremely high-performance head amplifiers with insert points. These head amplifiers, designed by the same engineers who developed Yamaha's DM2000 and 02R96 consoles, are the result of years of feedback from world-class engineers and producers. They deliver transparent performance that rivals--and in many cases exceeds--that of the most expensive component microphone preamplifiers.
The Yamaha i88X features 2 mic and 6 line inputs that deliver very pure audio signal to the unit's precision 24-bit/96kHz A/D converters. Built-in ADAT lightpipe compatibility and S/PDIF I/O allow for 18 simultaneous inputs and outputs. mLAN compatibility lets the Yamaha i88X Audio/MIDI Interface integrate with over 40 mLAN products.
The mic preamps on Yamaha's digital mixers have been used on countless hit records in the last 15 years--and now that same audio quality is available in a single rackspace computer I/O for your home studio. Order today.

I'm really surprised at how this particular interface doesn't seem quite as "popular" as other similar products. I think this thing blows away anything in its prices range. Record up to 8 simultaneous analog tracks, MIDI in/out, digital in/out, 2 nice preamps. This interface works great and I've had no problems with it. Just make sure you download the latest drivers from the web and you'll be set. This thing is awesome.
I'm using this unit together with the mLan16e expansion unit for Motif ES7. Both work flawlessly in my system. The mic preamps in ith i88x are everything the advertisements claim: super quiet with lots of gain. I can get plenty of signal to my DAW with this baby. My recordings are better than ever and with both the ES7 and all of my analog inputs coming from the i88x. I've got all the flexibility I need (home recording hobbyist). The features section only gets 8 stars because having a built in mixer and monitoring capability would be a plus. Not sure if or why Yamaha is discontinuing this product unless a successor is in the works.
