Comments about Yamaha MG166C 16-Channel Mixer with Compression:

I am an Emmy Award winning veteran A1, so I've used them all. But I just had a new client buy this mixer I specd since low budget but high needs. Yamaha came through! everybody needs min of 3 auxes and one pre/post switchable. Compressors on CH not great but do add a little help if used lightly. I add external downstream so wish groups or mains had inserts (like ch) but you can get by using the return since Groups can de-asign from L-R (adds a lot of flex options) EQ is also musical/great for cheap mixer. HPF is perfect slope. The 2 track return to monitor only is a nice feature for putting dry intecom into one ear (as I must mix on phones for this live broadcast) but also smart if you are recording your mix (I am always amazed at how few recordist listen to the destination returned -duh!) Skip the Mackie -at least these assignment buttons don't get accidentally pushed while you mix, and the tone sounds natural. Overall build is pretty solid for a 5lb mixer (sans PS), just don't bang the faders or eq's too hard. PS-what is so expensive about 100mm faders that budget mixers never have? I'm guessing about fourty cents more ea?!

Great for live and recording.

Comments about Yamaha MG166C 16-Channel Mixer with Compression:

I had originally been interested in this amp for the compression feature which is a rarity in mixers and i fell in love. I have since recorded live drums and they sound incredible. Excellent for practice. no effects but great tone.

Great Mixer

By Reviwer

from California

Comments about Yamaha MG166C 16-Channel Mixer with Compression:

This mixer is great for the price. It's very user friendly and feels very sturdy. It doesn't have anything really fancy but it gets the job done every time. my only complaint pertains to the power cord. The connector broke on mine after only a few gentle uses. It was pretty easy to fix but I think the mixer would benefit from a better designed power cable. Other than that small gripe- Great product that's worth the money.

Great Buy

Comments about Yamaha MG166C 16-Channel Mixer with Compression:

I'm the music minister at the church & they needed a new board & to get rid of the grandfather board. It handles great, I can separate the channels & send music to the annex while we're in church service. I love the options with the send, return & the mids with the eq, it gives you more room to handle the mikes, & control the music.

Great Board

By Vid Maye

from San Francisco, CA

Comments about Yamaha MG166C 16-Channel Mixer with Compression:

After my Behringer burned up, I was looking for an affordable board, with high quality, good-to-great sound, and good layout. My guitarist said he was looking at this board and after much deliberation and research, I decided to give it a shot. I use this almost exclusively to mic drums and it's really surprised me. The preamps are nice and clean (however not featured on the 1/4" input it seems) and the sweepable mid is phenomenal. Easy to read and logical layout helps when live sets (fits in a rack very nicely). Really good all around board that we hooked up to an audio interface and recorded our album EP. This version doesn't have the USB interface or the effects (which cost up to 150-200 more), but it does come with the compression, which is great on the kick and snare. Also, the knobs and faders feel sturdy, a feature lacking in the Behringer as well as the locking power connector and long power cord, also not on the Behringer.Just a great product from a great company.

Not Too Bad Of A Mixer

By Andy-K9qaT

from Pax West Virginia

Comments about Yamaha MG166C 16-Channel Mixer with Compression:

Back a few months ago a local church was upgrading their sound system and they hired me to help with the installation. This isn't my home church but when I do go down there they usually let me run the sound. The mixer is great for what they are using it for. I am still tweaking things on it trying to get it set so we get everything out of it we can. It would be nice if it had a or 9 band graphic EQ just to have a little more control of the overall sound but the channel eqs do a good job. The other good thing is the lights on the mute buttons on the channels. That way I don't accidentally turn something off that needs to be on and turn something on that needs to be off.
