Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:
For small to medium venues this system is great pushing vocals. Would not dream of running full reenforcement of band through them, but everywhere we play that big, PA is provided. Needs an effects loop. But for our limited needs, this system performs admirably. Only complaint - had Musician's Friend told me the 600 was coming out I would have waited.
Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:
This is all in all a pretty great system. It is super compact, efficient, and straightforward. It has crisp highs and big lows. The mixer is pretty limited, but it's not a huge issue and you can usually get your sound pretty dialed in without too much meddling. I don't miss lugging around massive Peavey speakers and a 60 lb mixer. Heh.
Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:
I've now owned this system for over 2 years. I've used it indoors (community center / multipurpose rooms) and even outdoors for karaoke, live applications or background music. For the smaller venues (100 people or less) no problem for karaoke, background music or live music with keyboard, vocals or one other instrument. Lots of headroom and crystal clear. This past weekend I used it for a live application at an outdoor event with 300+ people. There was a Yamaha CP5 keyboard and 3 condenser mics for a choir. The sound quality was great, but I had very little headroom left. Fortunately the people were close to the stage and not spread out too far. I can't say yet how this would perform with any drums or percussion, but suspect it would work fine with the smaller venue...probably not a large one.I've occasionally used the system stand alone. I normally connect a Yamaha MG12/4cx to the Stagepas mixer and treat it as a stand alone amp only. I know it seems redundant but I gain a lot of flexibility in adding rack mounted effects, etc. to the MG12/4. If I don't need all the special effects, I make due with the built in effects of the MG12/4. If I really don't care, I just use the built in mixer of the Stagepas.Regarding using a subwoofer. Some people have suggested plugging it into the monitor out. If you use a separate mixer like I do, you could also go from the mixer out to the sub and then pass thru to the Stagepas mixer.
Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:
This is a nice little PA that gets points for sound quality, portability and ease of use. We bought it because we wanted something easy and portable for smaller venues when we didn't want the hassle of lugging and setting up our big system. It's capable of putting out a lot of sound.Unfortunately, the second time we took it out one of the plastic 1/4" speaker jacks snapped off inside the cab. I suspect they cracked it when they torqued the nut down at the factory. These parts really ought to be metal (and soon will be, because I'm going to replace them).
Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:
Yeah this PA System is all that and then some. There is no way you wont love this system. The mixer fits to the back of the speaker for easy storage. Storage in the other speaker. It cracks some serious sound out and is also great for when we practice as well. Phantom power. And like I said before with eveything fitting into the back of the spekaers you only have to carry them out and they have handles on the back. Good deal.
Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:
The Yamaha Stagepas 500 is sensational.I use it for every imaginable DJ . The first statement I get is "Man,those speakers sound good".The second is "How much for the system?" If you ain't got one,GET ONE.You'll be glad you did. It's not rated 5 stars for nuthin'.DJJbird.N.Augusta,SC
Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:
I've owned the Yamaha STAGEPAS 500 PA System for while now, and deliberated for ages between this one and it's smaller sibling, the STAGEPAS 300. I use the system for a small amateur / semi-professional Karaoke setup, in a large shared house. I connect a pair of SHURE SM58 radio mics, a pair of cheaper radio mics, and a laptop PC for backing vocals. The system sounds warm and clear, and the vocals cut through nicely. On its debut performance, I was surprised how much of the 200W RMS per channel I actually ended up using by the end of the night - I was just touching the red part of the level meter during the final few songs. But boy, does it sound good! The 10" drivers are THUMPIN'!! They push great bass, and the sound is bright and clean, without sounding harsh. The speaker cabinets are solidy built and - unlike STAGEPAS 300 - have pole-mounts built in, meaning that additional adapters are not necessary. This was an important consideration for me. The mixer is also a great little unit. It locks up neatly into the back of one of the speakers, and weighs no more than 5kg. Considering that it also houses an amplifier capable of producing in excess of 200W per channel, this is quite remarkable. There are four mono mic / line channels, plus a further three stereo channels, which is plenty for karaoke purposes. The basic 2-band EQ is just about enough, although I would have preferred to be able to control mids as well as highs and lows. More importantly, the on-board effects are limited - I would have liked to have seen more presets. The mixer has a simple 24-bit reverb, but that's it. Variable delay would be useful also.Ultimately, for a one-box system that includes a sensible mixer, stereo power amplifier and a pair of good speakers, you'll struggle to do better than this. In the UK, the system costs 550 GBP, and, in my mind was worth every penny. My next task is to buy an electro-acoustic guitar, and try it with instruments, which is, after all, what Yamaha intended! Nevertheless, it makes a very capable Karaoke system for small and medium-sized venues.
Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:
I bought the StagePass 500 about 6 or 7 months ago. And I love this little PA system. I play Island style music. Mainly an acoustic/electric ukulele and I have never heard a small compact PA system with the quality of sound that this one has. I play in small coffee shops and restaraunts and I even host an open mic using this system. Everyone that plugs into it is so impressed with the sound of it. I highly recommend this system.
Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:
I just played my first small outdoor party with the Stagepas 500. I am picky about acoustic guitar tones, and was hesitant to plug my Takamine Supernatural directly into the mixer, especially with the limited reverb and EQ on the amp. But I was pleasantly surprised. Many positive compliments on the sound. It is easy to setup, and easy to transport. No buyers remorse, a good portable system.
Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:
I recently purchased the Yamaha Stagepas 500 for our 3-4 piece combo for smaller venues w/ the optional roller bags, and mic stand adaptor. I used it within a week of purchase at a private office holiday party. It was a breeze to transport and set up (less than 15 minutes...two guitars, keys, bass, drum machine, two vocal mics and a CD player). The sound was pure/clear in a room of over 150 guests. Great highs. The vocals cut through with ease. I was surprised at the level of bass this system pushes w/ 10in speakers. Guests, some of whom are musicians, commented on how great the sound was. Plan to use it in another small venue this week. An added benefit is its small size doesn't scare coffee house owners/restaurants. If you want great quality sound for small to medium venues that won't break your bank or your back, look no further. There's nothing better for the price. I did a lot of homework and heard them all at a local music store before making this purchase.
