Guitar legends from Santana to the Beatles have incorporated the rotary speaker into their music. BOSS kept this in mind when creating the RT-20, and by employing their COSM modeling technology, it reproduces classic rotary sounds just like the originals. Adjustable Rise Time, Horn and Bass speed, Overdrive, and more. Not just for the classic swirl, the RT-20 can create unique overdrive and pulsating effects as well. Amazing sound plus a stunning graphical view of the virtual rotors in its display.

Boss RT-20 Rotary Speaker Sound Processor Features:

  • Authentic rotary speaker sounds via COSM technology
  • Slow/Fast transition time is adjustable from gradual to rapid change; optional expression pedal can control speed in real time
  • Onboard overdrive effects
  • Adjustable mix balance between Treble Rotor and Bass Rotor
  • 4 types of sounds, from standard rotary speaker effects to rock-oriented tones, UNI-V, and more

Boss RT-20

owned rt-20 for 6 months, using it in stereo for guitar application. I'va added EQ to the front of the RT-20 to boost 600hz and 1200hz. Lets you voice chords across the horn / rotor crossover. If you are lookin for SRV Coldshot this is likely not the pedal for you. If you know what a leslie can do, man this is the s**t. Working the footswitch to take advantage of the interial effect can liven up your playing big time. This nuance is the strengeth of a leslie IMO, The effect has a bit of a gritty edge to it. The magic is accomplished by voicing your notes chords and appropriately changing timing speed changes. The youtube demos do not do this pedal justice. You need to be playing and tapping the tremolo chorale speeds with your feet not your fingers.

This pedal was given to me as a gift. This was the first pedal i ever got. At first i had no idea what it did, but the person who gave it to me said it gets great Pink Floyd tones. But it does alot more than just pink floyd sounds, it gets you hendrix, beatles, and lots more. This pedal takes a few trys until you start liking it, but it is a really great pedal that lets you shape every peramiter of the popular leslie sound. Great pedal, it also goes good with fuzz. Buy it!

WOW this has a very good Leslie sound to it almost like the 122 model. I must say that I was looking for a hammond keyboard, and the sales person told me a bout this processor and he hooked it up to one of the boards in the store and I was blown away when I start playing and the effect that I got out of it I brought it the same day. took it home and hooked it up. got to playing on it and didnt want to stop. my wife made me stop playing to eat dinner. and you know what I did when I got done eatting went right back to it. wow I love this thing

I own three leslies, 122, 860, 745. I was tired of moving them. I bought the RT20 to try. I have now used it for 1.5 yrs, although it does not compare to the real thing, it does provide a very good copy, especially with analog keybords. I had one problem with the right hand pedal, which was repared under warranty. Very nice pedal, however it does not fan your neck in a hot club.

Couldn't live without it!

I absolutely love this pedal. I play mainly jazz and I strive to achieve a sound and style more often associated with hammond organists. While technique can achieve this to an extent, a good leslie simulator is required equipment.

If you have the money, the absolute best effect would be the Hughes & Kettner Tube Rotosphere MKII. If you're like me and can't drop over $500 on a single pedal, then the Boss RT20 is what you want. The reproduction of the independent rotating horn and bass speaker is fantastic and accurate and switching speeds with the pedal is nice and easy. It also has 4 settings... 2 versions of a classic leslie 122, a 122 with a 59' marshal sim and a uni-vibe effect. I play through a tube amp with no headphone capability, so a simple feature like the headphone jack was a major plus for me. And as usual, boss makes rock solid durable stuff.

The only downfall is that the sound isn't quite as clean as a true Leslie or that Tube Rotosphere MKII... but for the price, this is an excellent pedal. I NEVER play without it... EVER!
