After owning many different brands and types of pedals I finally looked at the Eventide stompboxes and took a "chance". Glad I did! Sold my other modulation effects and use this one for all of my Flanger, Chorus, Phaser, etc... needs. Very pure and prisitine effects that do not suck tone at all. There is a learning curve but it doesn't take much to get on it and the possibilies are near endless with this unit. Little pricey for "one pedal" but it's not just one pedal it's 10 effects; add that up! I also have the TimeFactor as well and a PitchFactor on the way! Great job Eventide - keep it up!

I bought a new Eventide ModFactor a few days ago......and man is this good product. I run it though my FX Loop of my TSL100 and it's very transparent (if you choose) no pre-amps, true bypass and studio quality for sure. The ModFactor built like a tank and is based on their expensive rack units and add Tap tempo to it and the sky is the limit.....and for you guys who love rotarys and those who like the classic haunting swells of the Eventide Undulator, and all the basic modulated effects (Chorus, Phaser, Flanger and Tremolo)....this is a great product.

Phaser - Very nice, every basic type of phaser (positve, negative and bi-phase).

Flanger - you can go from lush to jet engine.

Chorus - liquid, organic or simmer styles.

Rotary - This may be on of the best Rotary Emulators out there, you can really very the speed of the horn or the speaker by analog knob and even slow or speed up the worble by foot.....it is very lush and full and I would think use in a stereo mode would sound amazing. Maybe it's not the real thing but it's the best simulator rotary that I've heard and that includes the Fulltone Deja-vu....it's that good.

TremoloPan - several type of waves and swells available here, coupled with tap tempo can absolutely rattle the windows.

Undulator - This is a very unique effect...it's a very distinctive type of horror movie style delay and with a swell capability engaged, is really dark and eri...it really reads your pick pressure and is amazing!

Vibrato - I don't have really any use for this type of effect...do they use this for Surf Rock?...anyway, you can do alot to the signal in this mode.

Q-Wah - Don't throw your good ole Cry Baby just yet...wah in the loop isn't exactly creamy...however you can add an expression pedal to manually, the vocal voiced mode isn't terrible if you were doing the right song....but for us rockers...wah has got to go in the front of a guitar signal path.

ModFilter - you can get some spacy modern techno things from this, but not very practical....and again I don't have really much use from this...however, I did dial down one of the pre-sets for this and added a little something to a power chord...gave it some fullness...so I'd say it has potential.

RingMod - you can really double a octive down melodies on the sixth string...I'm sure I'll have to explore this effect more as I think it also has transparent qualities that, when dialed down, can add some nuance to a signal.

This is a great unit. I play with a lot of different artists and am constantly learning new songs and having to dial new tones. The Mod factor has finaly allowed me my board back for other pedals and sounds SOOOO great. I use alot of backline amps and this sounds great through all of them. Not to overpowering.

If you're looking for a multi-modulation pedal, move on to something else. I ordered one of these and never even got it to work. I spent six hours the first night I owned it just trying to get the software update to work. Incredibly, the update utility erased all the software off the machine, then failed to install the new software. I tried everything I could think of to get it to work, I even uninstalled my firewall and virus protection software. Nothing. I know software issues aren't always easy, but after spending $400 for a single pedal I expected something better. Move along, move along...
