Gibson Les Paul Bass...A+++

As the 15 year owner of a Les Paul bass, I have always thought for rock music, these were the pinnicle bass for that sound and style. When it came time to add an additional Les Paul, this bass proved no different. For a true, pure rock sound, this bass is your weapon. Mahogony body, full fat neck and a killer set of pickups make this bass sing thru about any amp set up. Combine it with a quality tube amp and the sound just soars. The quality of construcion and finish are second to none and on par with basses costing much more. For anyone looking for that classic bass sound only a Gibson can produce, I would highly suggest a Les Paul.

This is perhaps one of the better bass guitars on the market today. I own over twenty bass guitars, primarrily Gibson (also Tobias), Fender, Hofman, & Rickenbacker, and can attest to the fine quality of this instrument. It plays great, has a distinctive full sound that resonates well through my Ampeg system. The two pick-ups are powerfull, quite, and provide the quality of sound that you would expect from Gibson. The overall quality of this instrument, regarding playability, construnction, finish, and balance is superb. I highly recommand it.

I ordered the bass, was unhappy with it and when I called to return they said I was responsible for return shipping. This is not stated anywhere in their printed material. Bait and switch by Musician's Friend.

Ive played both the Gibson and the Epiphone, wanting to see the difference. Well there isnt any in the sound, and thats what matters more than anything. the Gibson is just too much, especially when you can buy the same thing for $***. I'm a avid Gibson lover, but im no dumba**......i bought the Epiphone.

The Bottom Line

What a sexy bass -- maybe the sexiest I've ever seen. Mine took six months to arrive and would have been longer without the help of an excellent contact at Gibson. (He told me that Gibson no longer does business with the firm that used to make the bridge and that Gibson had to start making them from scratch. Happily they had a few of the old ones sitting around that is now on my bass.) I now own a cherry burst and what a sight to see. Part of the fun is that the thing is so rare and oh, about the sound -- it produces a meaty growl. I play it through a Super Redhead and to me it sounds best through both pickups. The feel is just great -- the set-up from the factory, great. My striking hand does hit the bridge pick-up -- I lowered it a bit, but it still happens. It's not really a big bother, but something to note.
