GREAT pedal

This pedal gets a bum rap everywhere, which is a shame because I think it's just great. Marshall may have had a bad run in the manufacturing dept. At some point, because I have heard of these breaking down - and it happened to me also with the VT-1 I had a few years ago. Just stopped working one day. A couple years went by and I decided to get a new tremolo, and ended up getting another of these just because of the amount of features per amount of money - But really, compared to tremolo units in the same price range - and there aren't many - nothing is nearly as good. The Boss TR-2 is noisy and tinny by comparison, without nearly as much depth or adjustability. People say this pedal is digital and harsh. Wrong! It's totally analog and can go from harsh to warm depending on how its set. I bought my latest VT-1 over a year ago now, it gets used quite frequently, and I've had no problems with this one at all. I power it with a Visual Sound 1-Spot and get no noise at all. Does give a slight volume boost. Both the vibrato and tremolo sound great in stereo, and they're both lovely effects. I have a lot of effects and this combines nicely with some of them, and not so well with others. I like how the waveforms can be adjusted from completely choppy to completely bendy and everywhere in between. Even though my first one was bad, I gave it another shot and haven't regretted it at all. And I would bet that Marshall has worked out whatever the problem was.

This pedal sounds great with an AC power supply and you will not find any pedal with vibrato and tremolo that comes close for under $200. The only gripe (and it's a big one)that I have with it is the footswitch failed after 2 gigs (and this part is proprietary, so you can't replace it). Also: defective pedals are "AUTHORIZED EXCHANGE ONLY"... Marshall does not repair ANY under warranty. So forget about getting a new one fixed for anything but the simplest problem. My advice: Buy this pedal, but only new, under warranty (Manufacturer's is a 3yrs. replacement warranty). Don't take a chance buying it used, like I did. Oh.. when using the outputs: Mono sounds vintage (I'm 55 y/o... I should know- having gigged with a SuperReverb for years). Output 2/stereo: use this in mono mode for a modern, powerful staccato effect. Vibrato effect is very sweet...and usable (not a useless add-on!).

I have owned the Voodoo Lab tremolo pedal and a Line 6 Modulation Modeler (which has two tremolo settings), and I think the Vibratrem is as good or better than all of them. I can't think of anything I dislike about this pedal. It does what I want it to. I suggest buying it.

I was so excited to get this pedal cause I'm a huge fan of tremolo. I found it to be very weak. It was never reliable, always giving me trouble. Sounds awesome in the ad, but certainly does not deliver. I traded it for a Boss Tremolo....very wise choice.
