M-Audio

A truly affordable studio package with a pair of monitors, mics, cables, and stand.

The M-Audio StudioPro 3 Monitor/MXL MXL 990/991 Mic Package includes a pair of M-Audio Studio Pro 3 active monitors, the MXL MXL 990/MXL 991 Recording Package which features two mics, a pair of 20' Gear One XLR cables, and 2 MG tripod microphone stands.

M-Audio StudioPro 3 active monitors
M-Audio StudioPro 3 active monitors feature powerful amplification, custom-tuned cabinets, optimized speaker design, and advanced crossover technology for the best possible sound. Magnetic shielding prevents these desktop audio monitors from interfering with your computer or video monitor.

Stereo Auxiliary Input and Headphone Output
For maximum flexibility, a stereo aux input allows you to plug in a secondary audio source (such as your portable music player) in addition to the main RCA inputs in the back. The volume control works on both inputs simultaneously. Additionally, there is a stereo headphone output next to the aux jack that mutes the sound coming out of the speakers and redirects it to your headphones.

Natural Bass
The custom bass reflex port design discharges very low-frequency signals and delivers a smooth, substantial bass response. Need more? The rear-panel bass boost gives you additional low-frequency gain and makes the monitors versatile for different spaces and listening preferences.

Monitor Pads
High-frequency audio signals tend to be fairly directional. That's why wedge-shaped monitor pads are included to help point your StudioPro 3s directly at your ears for an optimal listening sweet spot.

Enclosure
Provides a more stable performance with a special medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and unique interior reinforcement designed to absorb vibration and impact generated under extreme conditions. Includes carefully placed acoustic material that makes the StudioPro 3's sound much bigger than they are - resulting in a smooth, natural bass response.

M-Audio includes a pair of angled isolation stands.

990/MXL 991 Recording Microphone Package
The MXL 990/MXL 991 Recording Mic Package is a 2-microphone kit with the latest in MXL's range of studio condenser microphones. The 990 has silky, sweet high end and a tight solid bass, perfect for recording vocals. The 991 is a superior instrument microphone designed for recording acoustic guitar and drum overheads. Both have gold-sputtered diaphragms (20mm) creating a professional sound perfectly suited for digital and analog recording. The MXL 990/MXL 991 Recording Mic Package includes a high-impact carrying case and mic stand adapters.

2 MS-220 Tripod Mic Stand With Fixed Boom
The MS-220 Tripod Microphone Stand has a thread adapter and tubular legs. Its adjustable height from floor to top thread is 35" to 61-7/8". The 30-1/4" fixed boom is not adjustable.

2 Gear One Microphone Cable (20ft.
For serious-minded musicians, Gear One's XLR cables have the strength and durability to withstand more than everyday use. Since your cable is your sound, this XLR mic cable's superior wiring allows your signal to be quiet, eliminating frustrating hums, buzzing, and crackles.

Comments about M-Audio MXL Monitor and Mic Package:

Great home studio starter package. The 991 with proper positioning will give you a very solid acoustic guitar sound every time. I've also used it to mic amps in off center cone arrangements. It sounds great. Add a pop filter with the 990 and it is a serviceable vocal condenser. The mic stands included in this package are a little flimsy for the size of the 990, making it off balance unless situated just right. The monitors are usable, but not the best. Overall, though, for the price, you cannot top this package. I would buy this again, no questions asked. The 990 & 991 are workhorses and a great addition to any home studio.

Comments about M-Audio MXL Monitor and Mic Package:

For the type of recording I do at home, this is perfect in that I don't want or need the pro stuff, but this package gave me the quality I need for personal recording. I got what I paid for and I am happy with the product.
Don't expect miracles with this product, but be smart about what you need it for.

Comments about M-Audio MXL Monitor and Mic Package:

The monitors sound great! I mix through the headphones and the playback sounds great through the monitors. The mics are great for the price and I haven't found any mic that doesn't need tweeking whether it's a Newman or a shure or m-audio. It was a good buy and a nice addition to the studio. Works well with my other mics.

Comments about M-Audio MXL Monitor and Mic Package:

Received item and the package is great. The sound quality is wonderful. But I did not rate it five stars because of the outputs. It's RCA on one side to a 1/8" on the other, and when trying to connect it to a audio interface, you need an adapter to make the 1/8" to a 1/4" .. Other than that I am really happy with this setup

Comments about M-Audio MXL Monitor and Mic Package:

I bought this nearly 2 years ago and I really love this combo. The speakers are actually a lot smaller than what they appear in the photos. I remember when I opened the box, I started laughing because I was expecting much bigger speakers, but these have some really good sound to them and they can get quite loud. I still use them too! Great for mixing or just listening to music in general. I highly reccommend this, but I'd get new cables (like Mogamis or Monster) because these are really cheap cables and the sound quality on them aren't all that great. :-P

            The monitors suck

            By Anonymous

            from Undisclosed

Comments about M-Audio MXL Monitor and Mic Package:

I bought this package mostly for the Studio pro 3 monitors. Let me first say that everything else included in the package is great. I had a 990 already and its a decent little microphone, but having 2 is great for stereo micing an acoustic guitar, gang vocals, and sometimes I even use them for overhead mics on a drum kit. The 991 is great for hi-hats, snares, acoustic guitar, etc. The cables are good and the mic stands are fine. The monitors sound like crap. The frequency response is in no way flat to my ears. You end up boosting your the bass in your EQ resulting in unbalanced mixes when you listen back through car speakers or your computer speakers. Also, the headphone and aux inputs work fine for me, but recently (after like a month of light use) the audio no longer comes out of both speakers. I've tried different 8th inch cables and everything, but I'm sure the inputs on the back are just shot. I have no interest in replacing them. Maybe you'll get lucky, but I would take my business elsewhere.

            Good for the price

            By J. Gubler

            from Undisclosed

Comments about M-Audio MXL Monitor and Mic Package:

I recently bought this package to do a little home recording. The package is unbeatable in price mostly because you save about $50 dollars versus buying it all separate. The MXL Mics are a good value but they lack the quality of a higher end mic obviously. You won't get the smoothness and depth you would out of a Nuemann or the like. I've recorded with one and there is an enormous difference no doubt. However, if you're digitally recording they can be compressed and tweaked to produce a good sound. The monitors are great for the size but nothing spectacular. All in all, a great package for the beginner or cheapo trying to do a demo.

            Ok to begin with...

            By SoullessSoldier

            from The Aspen Valley, CO

Comments about M-Audio MXL Monitor and Mic Package:

Ok, first off, I bought this package to begin my first home studio. And it is a good package if you're looking for some essentials. The MXL mics really come in handy and work well (very sturdy). The XLR cables are MEH- but work fine themselves (I've had this for over a month now). The stands are nice enough.BUT!...The monitors aren't ones you're looking for if your looking to buy this package for a set of monitors (which... I sadly was). The sounded fine... for a week. But suddenly the right monitor developed a nasty buzz that really (really) ticks me off...Ah well, I was going to buy different monitors anyways.Hopefully others have better luck. Just beware the monitors...

            Great starter package

            By Camurai

            from Maine

Comments about M-Audio MXL Monitor and Mic Package:

If you're looking to get started in home recording, you need to strongly consider this starter package. Pick the interface that suits you best and this will cover everything else you'll need. My only gripe is that the MXL991 mic seems too prone to clipping, but that's solved by either reducing the gain on the interface or turning it down in your software. The 990 mic is as good as some mics I've seen costing 4 times as much! Mic stands and cables are run-of-the-mill, but the M-Audio monitors are surprisingly good, considering how much they cost. Low-end response isn't very big, but certainly adequate, and for the price of this package, it's awfully hard to say no.
