Comments about DW 7300 Snare Drum Stand:
I have owned many DW stands/ pedals and have always been impressed with their attention to detail, engineering of components, and workmanship in the final assembled product. This stand exudes that same quality. Though I still wish DW would bring back their discontinued 8000 line of stands with 9000 series tube diameters paired with single braced legs (The subsequent 8000 series used smaller tubing/ small double braced legs- these were later 9000L "light")- I do appreciate a solid, sturdy, single braced stand with reduced weight. I also prefer these "jazz standard" single braced tripods to the "flat base" stands popularized these days.
Light weight single braced tripod, reduced tubing diameters, and lighter weight basket arms reduce the overall weight of this stand compared to the 9300 (Heavy Dbl Braced), and discontinued 9300L (Medium Wt Dbl Braced). The height adjustment Memory Lock and larger rubber feet contribute to this stand's solid, dependable feel, typical of all of DWs' stands. I would have preferred larger/ softer basket arm tips (found on the 9000 series).
Rock solid performance! I purchased this stand as a second stand for smaller acoustic gigs (snare/ kick/ bongos), and to mount my 12" rack tom on larger/ louder gigs. I play Forte most of the time and FFF at times, and this stand has not budged! I was using a 9300 for this drum before, but wanted to get rid of some of the weight in my case for a regular gig with lots of stairs for the load in(UGH!). Typical DW castings, fittings, and chrome.
Smaller, less weight, less expensive, but by NO MEANS -"cheap"! It is surprising how much difference there is in price from the heavy duty double braced stands to their single braced counterparts, but don't let that fool you into thinking they are any less professional quality.
