I purchased the Snowball back in february and i can tell you, this microphone is a steal for the price. It's so clear and crisp, loud and just the right amount of bass for vocals and instruments. I use this mic for singing and guitar(s) and it performs as it should, very pro-quality.i do have one concern i must express, when singing/playing loudly, it will peak if on setting 1 (Cardiod) or Setting 3 (omni) set it to setting 2 (Cardiod 10- db pad) and it's flawless. I highly recomend this mic as both a musician and a producer.

One evening I got the idea to fiddle with some recording on my iMac when I spied the USB Logitech microphone that shipped with my kids' Guitar Hero - World Tour. I popped it in, grabbed my trumpet and got some pretty cool results with it. I have read that there were some pretty good USB mics on the market, and the Blue Snowball reviews pretty well, so I decided to give it a shot.Using my iMac with Garage Band, I could not find a setting where I could use that mic with my trumpet and not get distortion on the highs and louds, and I really tried. I didn't really try it with voice, but since voice wasn't what I needed, I ended up taking it back because frankly, the $30 Logitech mic worked better for me.Had I used it for vocals, it probably would have been fine though. For those folks who complain that this mic doesn't give enough signal, either this is a manufacturer/quality control issue, or they don't know how to use it because I got more than enough signal, and that was never a problem for me.For those on the fence, as long as you aren't trying to record loud sound sources, go for it - it might be ideal for you, but it didn't work for my purposes.

Comments about Blue Snowball USB Microphone:

This is a very good microphone. Easy to use. Plug in the USB and go. I was unsure at first because of the price. I thought that it couldn't be as good as it is. I have used it to record my songs and they turned out better than I could have ever hoped.

All of the vocals were recorded using this microphone. I highly recommend it.

Comments about Blue Snowball USB Microphone:

I recorded a song in my living room...no background noise was picked up, but my voice and instrument came through loud and crystal clear. I then recorded a harmony accompaniment, and a second instrument. It sounds like it was done in a studio! Great, clear sound in a compact, attractive package!

Comments about Blue Snowball USB Microphone:

Plug and play straight into Windows 7, only requiring one to manually make the Snowball the computer's default microphone. Recording quality is very flat and accurate, with a wide volume decible and frequency range. It was packaged well and arrived three days after I ordered it, and it came with a quality stand and USB cable. I am highly pleased with the functional quality, the solid constuction and with Musician's Friend Tech Support, Sales Associates and efficiency.

Comments about Blue Snowball USB Microphone:

When I ordered this product, it was back-ordered. Musician's Friend was very good about keeping me updated on the status of my order and once it shipped, it arrived very quickly. I have only used this microphone once, but am happy with it so far. It matches well with my singing voice (alto-soprano). I can see how the cardioid and omni pick-up patterns could be useful, but I have yet to test the difference. The volume seemed quite low too when recording (I had to turn the volume on my computer way up) however, I have a soft singing voice. This doesn't seem like a "work horse" do-it-all type of mic, but it's fun to play around with and a good value.

Comments about Blue Snowball USB Microphone:

I bought this mic so that I could basically have a quick fix to record a couple demos and it's just that. The quality is fantastic until you reach a certain point. On the first setting (for vocals) you have to stay VERY quiet or it begins to crack really bad. On the second setting (For loud sources) you have to sing VERY loud and turn the volume on the software way up. I haven't found much use for the third (podcasting) setting. The sound, when within the limits, is absolutely wonderful. It's great for now but I'm definitely looking for another mic.

I'm still trying to get the hang of the microphone world right now, but I ordered this mic and I'm pleased with it. It has 3 settings on the back, and I'm not entirely sure what they do, but it seems to have a different sound on each one. This mic is great for vocal, guitar, and drums. It's nice if you need something to hold you over till you can get the expensive mics. But if you have the money, I'd get professional mics.

            Couldn't be happier

            By MS863047665

            from Cleveland, OH

Comments about Blue Snowball USB Microphone:

I love the recording settings, the spheroid shape make it great to hold in your hand while singing.
This snowball has better functioning options even though it has 3 instead of 4.
I first tried the Blue Yeti but this one is far better. On the Yeti the tightening screw loosens every time you use it, and the micro USB connector on the back is very fragile and breaks very easily.
I could not be happier. Looks great, strong connection, perfect for recording guitar and vocals.

Great sound recording for anything vocal I have done and works great for accostic instruments as well.
