I got the Producer package as part of Sonar Platinum. I had AD1 with prior Sonar but tried the demo of AD2 which also made up my mind to upgrade to Sonar Platinum to get AD2.
The actual sounds are great, as is the usability of the program. From the first night I was making world class drum tracks.
It even allows you to tell the program how good or bad you want your "drummer" to be and it reacts in kind.
I even use it as a drum box using my Sony Ultrabook. I just do a file for whatever song I wish to play and then pull it up quickly and easily.
I picked the three kits, program selections, and extra pieces very carefully and have fund that by mixing and matching drums into custom kits I can find just what I am looking for in sounds.
I have also found that I can find a rhythm pattern for anything I wish to play, and I play a very varied set.
Also, if a pattern is close, you can modify it and then save it as your own pattern. That has it down to perfection, especially when you can pick a basic pattern and use it for your drum backing.
This can actually turn your computer or laptop into the the best and easiest to use drum box you will ever find.
There is NO program available anywhere at any price that could take the place of AD2 in my studio.
I own AD1 and love it so when AD2 came out I jumped on it. however, they closed down their forum which I loved for AD1. I had some issues with AD2 so I contacted XLN and had a couple of questions. They take about a week to answer and usually did not give me enough of an answer ot get me moving, so i would have to reply and then wait another week for the next non answer. In the old days, there were people on the forum who had had the same experince I was having and could point out a solution. It makes me wonder if they didn't do this on purpose as they knew that something was not going to be right with the product and did not want a lot of people complaining on a public forum.
