Good mouthpiece

Comments about J & D Hite Bass Clarinet Mouthpiece:

I'm just starting the bass clarinet on an old instrument with a few leaks, so it tends to be squeaky. This mouthpiece definitely plays better than the one that came with the horn (hard rubber, no name or identifying marks). The sound of the whole setup is great, I think, but the real problem is with the cracks in the clarinet which need to be repaired. So I"m not really ready to test mouthpieces, but I suspect that this one will work as well for me as a more expensive piece. I just took away one star because the ligature is slippery, as others have commented. Not a big deal, just use a shoelace or an old sax ligature or whatever. I think the rovner ligature or knock-offs of that are good because handy, don't get damaged and they stay secure (you might be able to turn the mouthpiece a little without re-adjusting the reed). Bari sax one probably fits.
