    Not what it used to be.

    Comments about Selmer Ray Hyman Saxophone Straps:

    I have used a Ray Hyman since I got my Mark VI alto in the late 70's and love it. My old one was made of a silk-like nylon material that was comfortable and good looking. The one I recently purchased has a strap made nylon webbing like you would find on a nap sack. It is rough and too large to fit through the adjustment device (which apparently wasn't redesigned for the thicker material). The new rougher, thicker strap is so tight in the adjuster that it simply can't be moved under normal circumstances. I tried silicone lubricant to no avail - a complete waste of money.
