The Zonda reeds take their name from the hot wind that races through the Zonda Pass in the Andes Mountains. The Zonda whips the growing cane back and forth, strengthening its fibers. Under the stewardship of 2 generations of the Gonzales family, the Zonda cane is painstakingly cultivated in a pesticide-free environment, then aged and hand-selected for these reeds.

Comments about Zonda Hand Select Bb Clarinet Reeds:

I, too, have tried many brands of reeds and Zondas outperform all the others. Vandorans have quality issues. The new Rico Reserve Classics are better, but a bit dull sounding. Others have issues with short lives. Zonda reeds cover these issues well. I have found few Zondas that were not good reeds, and most are close to concert playable out of the box. They are consistent in sound quality throughout the range. I am a retired private clarinet teacher and local performer and play mostly classical. I play on a Gregory Smith mouthpiece.

Comments about Zonda Hand Select Bb Clarinet Reeds:

These reeds are very rough and coarse sounding. Extremely hard to play and very inconsistent from one to the next. I've tried just about every reed and these are by far the absolute worst. I would have not given these a star at all, but I was required to give at least one in order to continue with this post.
