OVERVIEW

Consistent performance night after night.

This Aquarian Hi-Velocity snare drum head is an ebony 2-ply (2.7mil) head with a reverse Power-Thin dot for extra strength. It provides easy tuning, great stick response, zero slippage inside the hoop, consistent sound, increased resonance and sensitivity, and the sound that drummers need and deserve.

Safe-T-Loc hoop
This hoop system prevents slippage inside the hoop so that the snare head does not de-tune during a performance and will not pull out. Tuning is consistent and the replacement head stays in tune.

Sound Curve Collar Design
This design allows the Aquarian drumhead to seat perfectly on the bearing edge. No wrinkles even with loose tuning. It conforms instantly to any shell design and makes tuning fast, easy, and more accurate.

Triple Locking System
This unique system provides drummers with previously unheard of advantages in resonance and playability. First, holes are punched in the bottom of a "U" shaped channel, which has been formed in the drumhead. These holes allow the epoxy to flow into the "Safe-T-Loc" channel. Second, the "T-Ribs" that form the Safe-T-Loc channel prevent the epoxy and the drumhead, from slipping and pulling away from the hoop. Lastly, the Locking Shoulder acts as a "stop" to ensure the correct collar height for the snare drumhead.

My new snare head, Forever!!!

Didn't think it would be as good as it actually is. Always used Remo for thirty years, but now it's all Aquarian for me, sorry Remo.

I've had this snare head for a few months now. It has an excellent crack/pop sound when tuned high with little ring. Works great for some of the pop/rock recordings I've done. The issue I have is lower tuning. This head rings like crazy at lower tunings. And yes, I have tuned it six ways to Sunday. Moongel hasn't helped, only an O-ring seems to cut the overtones enough to make it worthwhile. With the overtones cut the lower tuning sound is great! I have an acrylic Pork Pie snare and maybe they don't play well, but I continue to play with tuning in hopes I'll finally find the right balance. Either way, it still has use for me so it gets 3 stars.

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Velocity Black Snare Head:

This drumhead makes my snare sound totally amazing! Definately high velocity, cause' i'm a hard hitter on my snare and this thing has held up for around 8-10 months with out any dents or chips coming off. This guy can be tuned so tight its not even funny. This head definately beats evans and remo. I will always go with Aquarian now!

Excellence!

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Velocity Black Snare Head:

I went through many different heads before sticking with this. Remo and Evans just don't have anything that compares. The old school coated Ambassador still sounds outstanding, but it won't last nearly as long as this one. This was also oddly easy to dial in a good tone with. Dig it!

This head made my snare finally crack!

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Velocity Black Snare Head:

This was the head that finally made my Pearl Dennis Chambers signature snare crack like it's supposed to! It's solid; it's sturdy; it's solidly built, and it rings beautifully in any kind of rock setting. It's not sensitive enough for jazz, but as I'm stuck in a rock/garage band for the moment, it lends the vital sound to my snare. No mush, no cardboard sounding snare hits, just sharp, solid cracks once you tune it up. Haven't had it long enough to know about its durability, but I'm happy enough for now. No regrets at all.

Great Head, But...

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Velocity Black Snare Head:

Overall, this is a great head! It looks good, it sounds good, and it's constructed well. Only thing I don't like about it is that I'm now getting black marks on my coated tom heads. I guess that may be a no brainer, but I'm new to playing acoustic sets. But I'm sure you all know this. Haha!

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Velocity Black Snare Head:

I beat my drums like they owe me money, and this thing is holding up perfectly! I've been annihilating this thing for the past 2 months and the only problem I'm having is a bit of the coating coming off. Still sounds fine. Great deep tone. Very easy to tune as well. Never see any wrinkles, even when I'm actually taking the head off. Will buy again.

Great snare head

By Ludwig+Sabian_drummer

from Paris, Il

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Velocity Black Snare Head:

I got this snare head about a month or so ago, and after using Remo Coated Ambassador and Remo Black Suede Emperor, this head blew me away. I play on a crappy steel snare that came with my Ludwig Accent, and this thing made it sound great. It has a very dry sound, with a perfect crack when you hit it. The ring isn't too bad, I play it either with our without one moongell, and either way it sounds great. This thing can get cranked up, it would go great on a side piccolo snare as well, but for a 14" main snare it's a great head.Highly recomended.

I have been using these heads for many years now. They stand the test of time and are capable of being wound as tight as you can get them with awesome action! I get many comments from sound guys complimenting me on the sound of my snare(ludwig acrolite). Must buy in my eyes!!

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Velocity Black Snare Head:

The Aquarian Hi-Velocity snare head gives off just a tiny little bit of ringing overtone, compared to another perfect drum head, the Evans Genera Coated. I use the Evans on my 14" wooden snare, & I use the Aquarian on my metal Piccolo snare, as it compliments the metal ringing tone. Aquarian heads have been a great discovery. They seat easily and deliver all the good stuff you want. The Hi-Velocity is an especially cracking snare, with a wee bit of extra bright overtones compared to the aforementioned Evans. If you aint thwacked one yet, buy one now!
