This is the best boom I've ever used for gigging/live situations. The 2 lb counterweight means the stand stays upright - one less thing to worry about when you're playing. Combine this with the MS20 mic stand and you have the last boom/stand combo you'll ever need. My guitar player has the same model and his is 20 years old!

The boom stand worked well with my old Atlas mic stand. I think this new boom style isn't as good as the old Atlas booms mostly because of the thumb screw adjustments. They don't hold as tightly as the old ones. But once you have it set they're OK. My big problem was in the shipping. When I received it one of the plastic thumb screws was cracked so I had to send it back. For some reason it two weeks and I had to call and then they final sent a new one--this one had a broken thumb screw too. They might have even sent back the original one!--I don't know. Almost 6 weeks for a product that I should have received and started using in a few days. The packing for shipping this boom stand model was just not done very well. MF did give me a $10 credit and then another $5 credit after they realized I would have to ship it back again. Rather than doing that I finally keep the stand with the broken thumb screw and had a friend give me a thumb screw from an old stand he had.

Comments about Atlas Sound PB21X Extendable Length Boom:

Plastic thumbscrew arrive broken in 3 pieces. From appearances it shipped broken. MF replaced it, no hassle, and provided a return shipping label but plastic is plastic. I remember the old Atlas boom and long for bullet-proof all mental gear.

Comments about Atlas Sound PB21X Extendable Length Boom:

I bought two. This is exactly what I needed, given the limited space I have. I first purchased the PB11X but found it too short for my needs; plus the balance was too iffy at full extension. the PB21X allows more stability. Certainly don't recommend for the rigors of live performances, but great gear for a studio environment. Nice looking in chrome too. I also really enjoy and appreciate being a customer of Musician's Friend. Not a paid, political announcement.

Item was clearly portrayed as a stand and boom, but was only the boom. The description was very vague and misleading

Comments about Atlas Sound PB21X Extendable Length Boom:

I own 4 of these solid little beauties. They operate smoothly, very easy to adjust them precisely where you want them, and--hell, I'll admit it, I like they way they look. They have a nice industrial look to them, a form-follows-function vibe that just appeals to me. Which would mean nothing to me if they didn't also function well, but they do. Buy 'em, set 'em, forget about 'em. Or use them in an application that needs lots of tweaking--they'll gladly do that, too. I'd buy more, and I'd recommend them to a friend.

Goes great with the crome base stand and compliments my 50's mic excellantly. Good heavy construction. Like the 2 lb counter wieght for balance.

Comments about Atlas Sound PB21X Extendable Length Boom:

When it comes to hardware, you usally get what you pay for... The Atlas PB21x is by far the best portable mic boom I have ever seen. I highly suggest getting the Atlas MS20 to complete the package. It's well worth the price. I don't see this one breaking antime soon!

Comments about Atlas Sound PB21X Extendable Length Boom:

I wanted to buy a heavy duty boom to last a long time. Unfortunately this piece of junk has stripped out twice since I bought it. It has a special metric carriage bolt that you cannot find anywhere in town that strips out with just light use. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!!

Comments about Atlas Sound PB21X Extendable Length Boom:

I like the Atlas Boom Stand. It is a step up from what I have been using in my studio and playing out with. I don't have any cheap mic's and I enjoy the solid stand and boom that Atlas makes. It's worth the price.
