OVERVIEW

A stackable, durable mic stand that saves space both in storage and on stage.

The Atlas Sound SMS5B microphone stand saves stage and storage space with its ability to stack 6-high with a single 10" footprint. Now a single layer of microphone stands doesn't need to take up a separate storage room, and space on stage is freed up thanks to the mic stand's compact base.

Atlas Support stacking microphone stands are built with a wide mouth opening and a floating pole design that means they stack with only a slight rotation. The SMS5B stand has an anti-reflective black finish and can be adjusted from 33" to 60-1/2".

Over the past 70 years Atlas Sound has been a leading maker of microphone stands because of their performance and durability on stage and in studios worldwide.

FEATURES
  • Stack as many as six units in a single 10" footprint
  • 33" to 60-1/2" height
  • Anti-reflective black finish
  • 4 lb.

I ordered this stand around Christmas and the first time it came I was dismayed to see that only the mic base (one that had some defects at that, namely the threaded portion was all cross threaded, and I don't know if it would have even worked if the part that screwed into it would have come with it)had been shipped to me. I made a quick call to a very nice young lady at MF and she fixed my problem with no difficult questions asked of me to resolve the problem, just a few to make clear exactly what happened. After that she promised me a COMPLETE mic stand and no cost would arrive in about a week. It came and it is a very nice stand with a smooth and functional clutch. The only thing that I don't like about the stand is where the mic attaches to the stand the threaded portion is a press fit with a crimp to hold it in there. I can't see a problem in my home studio but on the road it might break. I would be careful about using this stand in a live situation. I see no problems with the way it gets used in the studio as it usually just holds my shock mounted condenser mic and not much else ever happens to it. Now, I still have a mic base sitting here with no way to put a mic on it though....lol

I am returning these stands and exchanging them for another model. These do not have enough weight in the base for using a boom on the stand , they are to unstable and tend to fall over when using a boom. Other wise they would be fine if used without a boom . Would recommend to a friend if using as a "stand only" with no boom.

Comments about Atlas Sound SMS5B 10" Round Stackable Base Mic Stand:

These are the best stacking-base microphone stands I've found. They are simple, sturdy, rugged, and easy to transport. I replaced a pair of Ultimate stacking base microphone stands that were bulky and difficult to transport. The Atlas version are much better and more useful.

Comments about Atlas Sound SMS5B 10" Round Stackable Base Mic Stand:

This is a quality stand. I am a drummer who sings backup and I needed a stand that I can not only fit into my equipment bag with my other stands but that doesn't take up too much room on stage. I can tuck this stand tight against my hi-hat and actually maneuver the cut-out portion of the base around one of the feet of the hi-hat stand. Coupled with a short adjustable boom, this is perfect for me.

To the other reviewer who took off a start because this mic stand didn't come with a mic clip: in general, mic clips come with the microphone, not the stand. I've never purchased a (new) mic that didn't come with a clip, and I've never purchased a new stand that did come with a clip. Look at every other mic stand on sale here, do you see a mic clip in any of the pictures?

Comments about Atlas Sound SMS5B 10" Round Stackable Base Mic Stand:

Just what the doctor ordered. I mount microphones on a couple, and a personal powered monitor on the other. They work just fine. On thick carpet, they tend to be less stable than on hard floor, but they are still reliably stable.

Comments about Atlas Sound SMS5B 10" Round Stackable Base Mic Stand:

There is no mention that the stand doesn't come with a clip for the microphone, so you have to spend another 15.00 for that, making it 1/3 more expensive...unless you'd just like to use duct tape to hold the microphone in place. Duct tape works great, until the singer decides it's time to prance about, then it gets a bit awkward.

Solid mic stand. More expensive than cheaper/store brands, but I find that cheaper stands fall apart much quicker. I've had no problem with Atlas stands at all.

Comments about Atlas Sound SMS5B 10" Round Stackable Base Mic Stand:

There's nothing I dislike more than EQUIPMENT: mic stands encroaching on music stands, and vice versa; cords snaking across the floor, poised to trip me up at every step; feedback, volume, positioning, and everything else that goes along with setting up equipment. That being said, I perform with another guitarist and a violinist, and we rehearse at my home in a room dedicated pretty much to that purpose alone. Well, the violin is so LOUD, we can't hear our vocals and have been trying to just "rise above it," so to speak. This allows for no nuance, not to mention my friend can't hear me (or herself), to even be able to sing her harmonies.

So I ordered two of these mic stands, mainly because they're stackable. I LOVE that aspect, because I can easily stack them and get them out of the way when we're not rehearsing. (I don't like the LOOKS of equipment either - LOL!) When we are rehearsing, I can scoot the round bases right underneath the coffee table and, with a gooseneck attached to each stand, we're all set up to run the mics through my Behringer personal monitor (using two Shure 58s, no feedback problems). We still have room for music stands, as well. The Behringer sits on the coffee table between the two of us. Instead of running a mic and a guitar through the Behringer, we're running two mics through it.

I've not tried these on the road, yet, as I just got them. I think, however, once my husband screws the bases in nice and tight for me, they will work just fine. At any rate, I've paid more for mic stands that are no more stable than these are and, in some cases, less so.

Bottom line is I'm very pleased with these stands, and I expect they will serve us well.

Comments about Atlas Sound SMS5B 10" Round Stackable Base Mic Stand:

I am a keyboard player who has the mic stand right next to me with a gooseneck. Previously, I had a mic stand that had three legs, and they got in the way of pedals, etc. This stand is compact, stable, and I like the fact that it has the opening at the base because then it doesn't roll around when I am transporting it in the car.
