I am very pleased with this tester. Wish I'd have bought one sooner instead of tring to troubleshoot by individually testing each wire and process of elimination. It did take a bit for me to figure out what the lights all mean because not all xlr cables are wired the same. But after some use you will quickly discover that this tool is priceless!

I've been using a CT-100 for about 2 months and I'm ordering another just to keep in the studio. Years ago I fasioned my own cable continuity tester for 1/4" and XLR cables and spent, I'm sure, well over 20 bucks in parts.  Not only does Behringer's CT-100 have more features than my old "Dave's-Do-It-Yourself 1000" (ok, I just made up that name), but it accomodates nearly every cable you'd want to test for live or studio sound setups.  Here are (in my view) the main pluses: 1) Visual and/or audible indicators - NICE 2) Intermittent indicator - VERY NICE 3) Portability and durability - REALLY VERY NICE 4) Value - AMAZING I've found that the CT-100's manual covers all the high points quite clearly although a basic understanding of electronics is gonna be helpful here.  I don't baby my gear and my CT-100 continues to function after two months of pretty solid gigging - I wouldn't recommend using it as a door stop, hammer or stepstool, though. BOTTOM LINE:  If you looking for a cable tester, get the Behringer CT-100 - not the "Dave's-Do-It-Yourself 1000".

Great Little Tester

I am a tech for a school district with a number of auditorium and portable sound systems. I use the cable test feature every time I repair and fabricate cables, and appreciate all of the different connectors that are provided - and the "intermittent" memory feature is very useful. The test tone with different levels provides a go/no go test for audio inputs, but a sine wave would have been nice - although I realize that signal is more costly to produce. I have marked the XLR jacks as to pin function, which would be a nice improvement if Behringer did that. All in all, however, a great value.

Little documentation on how to use

First the screw on the back for the batteries is so cheap that it stripped when I went to unscrew it and put batteries on it.  This was totally frustrating as i just barely pulled it out of the box to try it.  Second their is little documentation on how to use it. It has a small little 4 page users guide that doesn't give much information on all the features.  It leaves you a little confused on how to actually use it.  Im sure i'll figure it out through trial and error but I was not totally impressed by it.
