I've been using a CT-100 for about 2 months and I'm ordering another just to keep in the studio.Years ago I fasioned my own cable continuity tester for 1/4" and XLR cables and spent, I'm sure, well over 20 bucks in parts. Not only does Behringer's CT-100 have more features than my old "Dave's-Do-It-Yourself 1000" (ok, I just made up that name), but it accomodates nearly every cable you'd want to test for live or studio sound setups. Here are (in my view) the main pluses:1) Visual and/or audible indicators - NICE2) Intermittent indicator - VERY NICE3) Portability and durability - REALLY VERY NICE4) Value - AMAZINGI've found that the CT-100's manual covers all the high points quite clearly although a basic understanding of electronics is gonna be helpful here. I don't baby my gear and my CT-100 continues to function after two months of pretty solid gigging - I wouldn't recommend using it as a door stop, hammer or stepstool, though.BOTTOM LINE: If you looking for a cable tester, get the Behringer CT-100 - not the "Dave's-Do-It-Yourself 1000".

Does what it's supposed to do
Very solid. No worries about damaging it.
This price? An excellent value. I've wasted WAY more replacing cables needlessly...

I use this to test before a gig, and again at the gig just to make sure a gremlin doesn't pop up. I discovered an intermittent cut-out in a 50' mic cable just minutes before we started, and was able to repace it in time. That one time paid for the unit, and gave me peace of mind. Well worth the price!

This is a good tester. I had been using a digital multimeter for all my testing, which is time consuming. This little thing is handy and fairly easy to use, (as long as you understand what the lights are telling you). Other than not having any "true" instructions this is a good tester. I wish it could test usb cords as well.

I had to test some good cords to see what the leds should look like on the good cords and that was fairly easy but why not put it in the tiny instruction book.
I really like the intermittent test.... connect cord, push intermittent button, shake cord and watch it cut out.
This was explained in the 4 page manual but not the basic function..
Works good for me and I would recommend highly for the price.

Quick and easy testing of audio cables of most types. Excellent tone generator feature to help calibrate levels in your setup. Only minor complaint is the battery cover which needs a screwdriver to open. But, as often as you'd need to exchange batteries this can be overlooked.

The CT-100 Test set is one of the best testers I have in my collection. It small light weight versital and tests all sorts ofcables. I use the tested to test and repair cables used by the worship teams at our church. Great vallue for the for it's cost. I have purchased and used other Behringer product with great success. They are a quality product.

i don't have anything to really compare this to, I've tested 3 different types of cable, and found some bad ones because of it. haven't got to all the different functions of it and probably never will. I really only need to know if a cable is bad and it worked great for that.
i don't know about durability yet but i don't think it will go on the road. if a cable gives you trouble while your out you swap it out, then you get home and deal with it.

Like I said, if you run FOH for anything or if you simply have more than one cable you depend on, this is the deal. It's a clone of a more expensive unit, but IMHO just as good. The first time I took it to setup, the guy at the board said he wasn't getting signal out the mains. I just took the box back to the board, unplugged the mains & sub and ran the tone through the snake - Voila! subs and mains had tone coming through. I looked at the guy and said "it's working from here all the way to there, the problem is in front of you." I tried not to be too smug, but without that box, we would have spen a half hour swapping channels on the stage box and checking all my stage wiring or convincing the guy at the board it was his problem. I am a happy man. BONUS - I like the intermittent test ability. How many times, especially with guitar jacks, does a cable test good, only to have it short as soon as you move it around. YOU NEED THIS BOX!
