OVERVIEW

Reissue of a classic, but with better handling capacity.

The G12H Greenback is perhaps the definitive vintage Celestion ceramic magnet guitar speaker. Developed in the mid-sixties, it was quickly adopted by players like Hendrix, Clapton, Beck and Page, who typified the louder and more aggressive blues rock playing styles that came to characterize that era. The G12H-65 Creamback produces the familiar woody G12H tone, but handles greater power making it ideally suited for today's amps, when a vintage tone is desired. The increased power handling brings with it low end grunt complementing the warm and vocal mid range, crunchy upper- mids and sweet, refined highs.

Comments about Celestion G12H-75 Creamback 12" Speaker 16 ohm:

I bought a Marshall DSL 40c 4 months ago, and have had buyers' remorse ever since due to the cheap, trebly, tinny sound. Had to turn the Treble knob way down, clean channel was flat; overall, no bottom end at all. Kinda heartbroken with my new Marshall. But at first, I didn't know what the problem was. Did a ton of web research, and I saw that many other users of this amp replaced the stock Celestion Seventy/80 speaker with this one. Finally was able to get this one and BOOM! After the 10-minute installation, I was up and running with practically a BRAND NEW AMP! Now this thing sounds like a Marshall. With the stock speaker, I didn't even want to play it, and it made my second guitar sound like a cheap, bargain guitar (it's not at all, but for some reason, the pickups didn't agree with that stock speaker). I get that the DSL series is not made in England, but those stock speakers are junk, even if they are Celestions. But the G12H-75 Creamback made me love life again! And Musician's Friend shipped it to me a day or 2 sooner than expected! Great experience for my first MF purchase.

Comments about Celestion G12H-75 Creamback 12" Speaker 16 ohm:

I have a Marshall Haze 40 amp that gets muddy in the drive channel when the gain is up high and the boost is engaged. SO! I ordered this speaker and a Boss sd-1 pedal to eliminate the muddiness of the amp and give the amp more boost. WELL, it was easier to try the pedal than install the speaker so I tried the sd-1 pedal before I even opened up the speaker's box. As it turned out the Boss sd-1 overdrive pedal enhanced the amplifiers gain and gave it additional boost while switching the boost frequencies from the lower midrange to a more upper midrange eliminating the muddiness in the amps gain channel.

Comments about Celestion G12H-75 Creamback 12" Speaker 16 ohm:

Amazing sound quality out of the box. I put it in a Marshall TSL601 1x12 60W tube combo. Tung-Sol EL34's. Waited for the 16ohm so that I can have the option of running a 1x12 extension later since my amp can switch between 16ohm and 8ohm.

I used to have to turn the presence to around 7 with the stock wolverine speaker to get good sound, but this speaker has full sound without cranking the tone knobs. Working on breaking it in because I have read it just gets better and better with time.
