Comments about Celestion G12K-100 100W 12" Guitar Speaker:

I hated these speakers when I first got them. The sound gritty, distortiony, just all around terrible. I broke them in at around 10 hours, moderate volume. enough to speak over, yet here in the next room. I brought it to Band Practice and cranked on it for the first time. Still sounded the same. I ended up turning the Bass dial down from 8-3. The Mid dial from 7-5. The High dial from 8-5. I had more Bass, Mid, and High range than I ever had. Still sounded gritty though. After practicing about 3 months, 3 days a week, 4 hours a day. The grittyness just went away, and these are the most amazing speakers I've ever heard. I've had them for about a year and a half, and my band only records with these speakers. I use the Mesa Roadster head mixed with 4 of these, in a Mesa speaker Box and WOW!!!!

Comments about Celestion G12K-100 100W 12" Guitar Speaker:

Celestion is obviously an industry hog... and i am not one to use those particular brands in most cases. However! these speakers provide great tone for all types of music! for the purposed design-- great chugs, awesome leads, not too bright, balanced mids and great lows to rock the house! also extremely clean with a twangy tone to my suprise (which i like!) i play mostly metal and hardcore, but also play some jazz and alternative, and for a great well rounded speaker, these are the perfect pick! i rated the value 4 due to the cost but still worth every penny. i dropped two of these into a ported 2x12 cab and they are perfect. i would buy another set in a heart beat!

Comments about Celestion G12K-100 100W 12" Guitar Speaker:

I needed a 16 ohm,100 watt speaker for a 1X12 so I can use my Marshall JVMHJS at band practice. (A 4X12 can't fit in my car & I don't have a 2X12) The result... great tone. The audio response is basically flat as far as EQ goes. This allows the tones of the head to really shine through. Sometimes it is good to have a speaker(s) that colors tone but not in this case. By itself this one speaker can EASILY handle a 100 watt JVM at high volume! I think I may get 2 more to put in an X pattern with the G12T-75s in my 4X12. Or maybe replace all four...

Comments about Celestion G12K-100 100W 12" Guitar Speaker:

I got these speakers put into my Avatar cab to go with my Orange Dual Terror. I was always lacking bass in my previous rig so when I upgraded to an amp with a better tone and clean (my Dual Terror) I knew I wanted something that complimented those qualities as well as gave me a TON of bass! So when I first plugged everything in and played, I got goosebumps... I had what I always wanted! Great deep cleans, INCREDIBLE low end, and great response. These speakers are incredible. Now I can focus on the mids and treble of my sound because my bass is PERFECT.

Comments about Celestion G12K-100 100W 12" Guitar Speaker:

Everyone raves about the Vintage 30 and the G12T-75 for metal, but I bet most of those people are using those speakers in a closed back 4x12 cabinet. In a combo, I found the Vintage 30 and G12T-75 to be harsh on the high end and lack bass on the bottom. This speaker cures those ills. I know the Classic Lead 80 a/k/a Black Shadow type speakers are popular with Mesa Boogie combos, but I always thought they sounded boxy. If you like a little more scooped tone, the G12k-100 is the way to go. I think it's the best speaker for a high gain combo.

Comments about Celestion G12K-100 100W 12" Guitar Speaker:

I bought this from a friend and man was it a good deal. These speakers have quite an amazing tone. When hitting low notes, I get a very aggressive, thick, and heavy tone. When hitting higher notes, they are extremely clear. When I have distortion on or not, the sound is always clear, I never find the notes jumbled together. Perfect for all sorts of metal, country, blues, and classical.

Comments about Celestion G12K-100 100W 12" Guitar Speaker:

I purchased a set of these 6 months ago and mixed them with a set of Eminence Patriots in a 4X12 8OHM Angled closed back cabinet. After breaking them in correctly. The tone is awesome. You get low end punch/Mid range from Celestions and More Mids/highs from Patriots. I was not sure how the combo would work but I am happy I tried it. I play mostly hard and classic rock with a little Metallica thrown in. Try it you'll love the setup!

Comments about Celestion G12K-100 100W 12" Guitar Speaker:

I ilke the G12H and V30 is OK too, but this is the speaker to use if you have an open back cab and need a little extra Bass, not as toned down as Greenback. but sort of like a mixe of a G12H and Greenback.

Comments about Celestion G12K-100 100W 12" Guitar Speaker:

Holy Cow these speakers amaze me.

I had been looking to upgrade my cab for a while (an 80's Laney 4x12). I tried a Mesa Boogie with Vintage 30s and a few other Straight Cabs designed for metal.

In the end I decided on a whim to replace my speakers with g12k-100s because of reviews and descriptions I had read. A little scary, but it totally paid off. The speakers give me the extra power/low end/clarity that I have been searching for!!

I play through a Musicman HD-130 head, typically with fuzz, octave down and plenty of looping. My old speakers (gM-70s) got muddy quickly and never quite delivered the sub octaves the way my heart desired. the g12k-100s certainly deliver, and MORE.

Also, they are relatively easy to install if you do a bit of online research and practice your soldering.

          Also great for Tele players

          By ErnstNL

          from St. John's NL Canada

Comments about Celestion G12K-100 100W 12" Guitar Speaker:

This speaker has a pure tone that Tele players will love. Bottom end is all there and the twang chimes.Made for metal and country. LOL. Really!I use it as an extension cab for my Hiwatt Custom 50 and Traynor DG65 amps. My Tele, Gretsch and Strat sound great. It is very loud with 50 or 60 watts pushing it. Not a Vintage 30 sound. Pure and sweet.
