Comments about D'Addario ECB82 Chromes Flatwound Medium Bass Strings:
Strings are like playing style, there is no perfect one for everybody but for me, they are all that I use. These flat chromes are like my favorite bass, I may try something different but I always know what I have waiting that I can count on. My jazz bass with these chrome flats. I play everything from oldies, classic, southern rock, country, blues. With a little tone tweaking, you can get the sound you are after. These strings also produce the best sustain that I have ever found.

My last set of flat wound strings lasted 10 years. Can't complain about that. These strings, plus a good quality amp, produce a warm, full sound that's pleasant to listen to.

Comments about D'Addario ECB82 Chromes Flatwound Medium Bass Strings:
They have a great sound expecially for flatwounds. With tone adjustment you can use these strings for about anything. Zero fret and finger wear. Last forever. FYI: On an American Jazz with Leo Quan BAB III bridge using string through the wrapping will not always clear the nut. 50/50 chance. I'm switching to the SL version of the same strings.

Comments about D'Addario ECB82 Chromes Flatwound Medium Bass Strings:
I've used flat-wound strings in the distant past and found them to get muddy real fast. These strings are holding up well. The feel is good, no more rip-sound or harmonic zing when moving from one fret to another. In fact, the lack of that bright zing caught my attention at first, but the overall sound to the audience is better. All you hear is a clear bass sound. I find the weight of the strings to be well matched. They feel great. I play for about three hours twice a week. I've been playing these strings a month, and they are still like new.

Comments about D'Addario ECB82 Chromes Flatwound Medium Bass Strings:
I've been told by fellow musicians to try Flatwounds especially for Reggae, and am happy I gave it a try! I'm not really particular when it comes to strings, but I'm sure these will be a lot easier on my fingers for the long shows. Fast-plucking isn't as articulate compared to roundwounds, probably because I'm used to gripping the strings a little more. But for simple, heavy basslines that need a good strong thump, these definitely do the job.

Comments about D'Addario ECB82 Chromes Flatwound Medium Bass Strings:
These are extremely easy to play. no more hurt fingers! I love thick and heavy gauge strings, but they hurt after playing them all night. not anymore! I use a Fender Jazz bass w/ quarterpounder jazz pup's going into a cranked Sunn Model T and it sounds perfect! buy them and forget you ever played anything else!
Comments about D'Addario ECB82 Chromes Flatwound Medium Bass Strings:
These are very good sounding strings. The only problem I have with them is that they're about a half inch too short. The blue thread doesn't go all the way past the nut on my Reissue Fender 51 P Bass. But this is not a problem. I'll just get the Super Long Scale next time.
I marked the value down because they're pretty expensive.
