D'Addario Chrome Extra Light Electric Guitar Strings are revered for their warm tone and ultra-smooth feel. Stainless steel underwindings on hex cores build a foundation for the delicate outer ribbon winding. After the winding is applied, each string goes through 3 polishing steps. Great for classic jazz tone and rockabilly twang.

D'Addario's environment-friendly string packaging does away with the nylon plastic outer envelope, paper insert, and paper envelopes for each string. The strings come inside a 100% recyclable cardboard package that inhibits string corrosion.

D'Addario environmental string sets are now being made with new, brighter colored ball ends. The colored ball ends are specially coated with a new paint (green, red, purple...) that is easily recognizable and makes it even easier for you to identify each string.

Good strings mean good tone. Order a few replacement sets now.

Comments about D'Addario ECG23 Chrome Extra Light Electric Guitar Strings:

Seems like I've used them forever... exclusively. And they seem to last forever. They don't accumulate dirt so they're easy to keep clean and keep their proper tone. Color-coded ends make for no mistakes when putting them on, under virtually any lighting conditions.

Comments about D'Addario ECG23 Chrome Extra Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I would recomend the A'ddario products to others.
I bought these strings after reading a interview with Kenny Vaughn, guitar player for Marty Stuart. I thought I would try them on my 52 Telecaster, wow what a change. I still have the Tele twang for country but can do Jazz and pop music as well. They are mellow sounding but can still get the sound I am striving for. I like the 10 gauge strings

I am going to put a set on my ES335 as I play a lot of finger style; chet Atkins style; Merle Travis style and up to modern country.

    Smooth and Sweet Sounding

    By joseph verga

    from New Jersey

Comments about D'Addario ECG23 Chrome Extra Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I would at least recommend trying these out one time to see how they feel. I do most of my playing on an acoustic and find it hard to grab barre chords. When I got my Gretsch, my friend recommended trying these strings because it would make it easier to play barre chords. He was definitely right. These strings feel almost the same as nylon strings--a very silky feeling. They are definitely a different feel from a standard electric guitar string, but I enjoy playing my Gretsch much more with these strings.
I put these strings on my Gretsch 5120 and what an improvement from the factory installed strings. Maybe the guitar doesn't have as much twang, but these strings give it a nice smooth sound. Much easier to grab barre chords and to slide up and down the neck. I won't go back to any other strings for this guitar. i love them!
Can't go wrong with D' Addario strings, but I haven't tried any other flat wound strings to compare these to.
    Great value for the price.

I like the wound G string

    By ras1500

Comments about D'Addario ECG23 Chrome Extra Light Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings go well with the vintage stagger pickups on my Stratocaster. The wound G string eliminates the harshness I get with plain G strains. I also like the smooth feel of these strings, no finger squeak.

    Johnny A's tone

    By Joe Average

    from Kentucky

Comments about D'Addario ECG23 Chrome Extra Light Electric Guitar Strings:

If you own a Johnny A signature series guitar and like the sound of his version of Poor Side Of Town, Witchita Lineman etc... Here ya go. Put a set on my JA and wow. Put a set on my friends JA and wow. Great strings, stay in tune and last quite a while. I've had a set on my Gibson ES for close to 6 months now and its in tune every time I pick it up. Don't care for the wound 4th string so I ordered plains to replace them. Worth a try.

    Review

    By Tomcat Murr

    from San Francisco, CA

Comments about D'Addario ECG23 Chrome Extra Light Electric Guitar Strings:

Great strings! The extra light gauge is perfect for a Strat or similar guitar. The cost is excellent (about 1/3 the price of Pyramids) and the sound is everything you want out of a flatwound string. Despite common misconception, flatwounds are NOT only jazz or "mellow" strings; they were big in 50s rock and the 60s British Invasion. They're the true/original ROCK sound. They have a more even, 'mellow', and fuller tone than roundwounds, but still punchy and great for that 50s & 60s bite/twang. Perfect for clean leads. The D'Addario Chromes are everything flatwounds are supposed to be - excellent sounding strings at a reasonable price that put roundwounds to shame, with sizes that won't cause havoc on a guitar set-up for light gauge strings. Can't do pick or Ebow scrapes/slides, though. But it's a fair trade-off. Best strings there are for anything remotely in the price range!

    Totally Worth It!!

Comments about D'Addario ECG23 Chrome Extra Light Electric Guitar Strings:

Hey guys, my name is TheAndySan and I've gotta tell you about the D'Addario Chrome strings. I'm the kind of guy who's always experimenting with his gear to find different tonal possibilities. I was recommended these strings by my local music store and decided to give them a shot. Boy, they are a-freaking-mazing! No more string sliding noise so your slides are super-quiet. Their darker tone is perfect for pretty much any style of music ranging from heavy metal to jazz. I find that they're best for beefing up treble-happy pickups. These are my strings of choice!! I dare you to find better & cheaper flatwound strings than these!!

    Chrome extra light strings

    By Edman

    from Arlington, WA

Comments about D'Addario ECG23 Chrome Extra Light Electric Guitar Strings:

If you like the feel of flat wound strings, but like a 10 gauge set. This is it. I love them. No string noise, mellow tone. The only thing that keeps the rating from being all 5's is the price. Just a little spendy. But they do last longer than most strings. So, I guess it evens out.

The anti-Ernies! Rich, silent and bright

    By D. Mighty Wurlitzer

    from El Segundo, CA

Comments about D'Addario ECG23 Chrome Extra Light Electric Guitar Strings:

First I tried Jazz Light flats on my Strat, which meant slipping on another tremolo spring and setting it up again, due to the massive tension. Pretty good, but when I changed them for these XLs, I knew I'd found something great. I have XLs on the Strat now, (another setup) as well as my goofy little Talman acoustic-electric. They're bright, fairly easy to bend, and great for surf, Jazz and 60s pop.
