Comments about D'Addario ECG25 Chromes Light Electric Guitar Strings:
Have tried almost every brand of flatwound strings out there including those that cost 5 times the price of these. They are more versatile due to the fact that they are a little brighter than the others. They come in a wider variety of guages than other brands. I always come back to these when I need flatwounds.
Comments about D'Addario ECG25 Chromes Light Electric Guitar Strings:
I couldn't get the tone I wanted on my vintage Gibson Es-125 and then I got these strings.... Man what a difference! NIce thick sound that I was looking for. I am into the Americana-Blues sound and I finally got it. Sure the strings are as heavy as on my acoustics, but it's worth the extra effort.
Comments about D'Addario ECG25 Chromes Light Electric Guitar Strings:
These strings are really great for a warm smooth sound. I have seen a lot of reviews (particularly for the higher gauge .13 Chromes) marking them down for messing up intonation and action. Jumping from .009s or .10s to any higher gauge string will throw off your setup. However, if you put these strings on and if you get the guitar set up well these strings are fantastic. I actually put them on my Stratocaster because it sounded thin and I usually play clean, and what a difference it made. These higher gauge strings required my shop to reslot the nut and add two tremolo springs to accomodate the string thickness and added tension, but it was totally worth it. If you don't do those things when jumping gauges then of course it won't sound good. I mainly wrote this review because these strings sometimes get bad reviews but only because people aren't adjusting their guitars accordingly. These are very good strings.
Comments about D'Addario ECG25 Chromes Light Electric Guitar Strings:
These strings are what I have been looking for in an electric string for 15 years. Having never been happy with playing electric I have specialized in acoustic and bass playing. Recently acquired a Carvin Bolt Plus with a Wilkinson Bridge. I put these strings on, added two more tension springs to the bridge and re-setup the guitar. Finally the tone I've wanted for years. I play a lot of Funk, 70's R&B, Pop, light rock, and some jazz. I have gotten such a great tone out of these playing songs in the vein of Prince, Santana, John Mayer, and anything blues rock or funk. I will never put any other strings on this guitar.
