OVERVIEW

Extended life and crystal clarity.

Gauges: 12-16-24-32-42-53.

These acoustic guitar strings feature a computer-controlled wrapping around a hex core. The popular alloy of phosphour bronze lends the depth needed to make a dreadnought guitar speak, while retaining the sparkle a fine instrument can produce.

They sound awful to me, but that's an opinion I guess.... however, I vastly prefer the 80/20's, which are more natural, mellow, and seem to go better with the sound of the plain steel strings.
I compared these stings to the 80/20 Bronze D'Addarios that I usually use, by taking an A string and placing it on my guitar in the 6th position, next to an 80/20 Bronze A string of exactly the same gauge. I then picked each string in different ways and noted the results. I would describe the 80/20 as soft and mellow compared to the phosphor bronze. The PB had a very harsh metallic sound to it that I found distinctly unpleasant. My guitar is a grand concert (folk) size Sunlite, with mahogany body and solid spruce top. I used nylon, celluloid and Ultem picks, and the results were pretty much the same in each case. I really dislike the sound of PB... oh, by the way, the PB flat-tops sound the same as the round-wounds, they just slide quieter and cost twice as much. The other string I tested that gave a more sharp but not unpleasant or metallic sound was the D'Addario Silk and Steels... but they do cost twice as much as the 80/20's or the PB's, and they only make one guage of each string, sold in a set.
As usual, D'Addarios are very well made and accurately sized strings.
Like the 80/20 Bronze strings, these are a low price a set and therefore a great deal.

Comments about D'Addario EJ16 Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

Not a bad sounding set. Aside from the fact the wound strings have a faint sitar buzz to them. Not the most noticeable but, Better than the Duncan 's. I've been playing for a long long time and have kind of a perfectionism going on, so that being said. These are very bright, distinct and cut through the mix. I use them at home and studio. Not sure I would use them live. Don't need no sound guy complaining about buzz in the mix. lol....

Comments about D'Addario EJ16 Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

I didn't like the sound of the strings that came with my Yamaha FS720 and replaced them with these. They have a very nice mellow sound. I wanted to use the medium strings, but my instructor was afraid that they might be too much fr this light guitar.

Just started trying to learn again, and my strings broke. I have a Takamine G240 and found these to be the factory strings. I have had them on and played for about a week to stretch the strings, and they sound great.

These strings have been and will continue to be my go to strings for all my acoustic guitars, I have even tried the coated version of them and still like these better, I see no reason to ever switch
