I've had this beautiful Brazilian classical guitar for years and have never put strings on it. I decided to try these D'Addario Classical strings and I'm not sorry that I did. It's taken a little while for them to settle in but I'm very pleased with the sound. Still too early to tell how long they will last.

People really seem to rave about these strings. I have used these on 2 occasions. On the most recent, I did a comparison starting with the Diaddario EJ46 set and then switching back to the Savarez 500CJ set that I usually prefer (both unplugged and plugged into a PA and my amp).

For about a week I played each on my Cordoba GK Studio Negra. After a week, the EJ46 set (G string in particular) fizzled out and lost volume and tone. Especially plugged in, they sounded worse by the day. The Diaddario EJ46 set did not feel as good, last as long, or sound anywhere near as good as the Savarez 500CJs did. The responsiveness, volume, longevity, clarity, feel, and tone of the Savarez 500 CJs is superior to me.

I will say the Diaddarios are priced right and have a passable, mellow tone for a week or two maybe. I will gladly pay twice as much for the Savarez 500CJs from now on. For reference, I play fairly aggressively with a pick, and play a mix of lead and strumming in an acoustic/piano duo.

The best rope, excellent timbre, great durability and incomparable sound! I use on a Ovation 1624 1980, there's no better than this string for this guitar model!

These seem to be very good strings for me. They sound good and last me 4-5 months of practice. Great value for the price and haven't found anyplace better than Musician's Friend for speed of shipping and customer service

Comments about D'Addario EJ46 Pro-Arte Hard Tension Classical Guitar Strings:

These strings are for my son's classical guitar. He is a student, but I am a professional bowed string instrument player. These strings replaced Augustine Regals, Red, which had a lovely tone but were quieter and had rather loud shifting/sliding noise. The D'addario Pro Artes have a bigger, more direct tone, if perhaps not quite as pretty. The bigger strings have a smoother winding, so shifting is quieter. As some other reviewers have noted, the G is a bit quieter than the other strings; somewhat mismatched.

Comments about D'Addario EJ46 Pro-Arte Hard Tension Classical Guitar Strings:

The silver basses sound excellent, much better than the old bronzes that came with my guitar (a Manuel Rodriguez). The wound strings have a beautifully smooth tone, with a good amount of metallic punch. This is balanced relatively well by the characteristically soft timbre that the thread inside produces. The clear nylons sound excellent as well, and the high tension makes them clearer (medium tension before, I believe). The silver looks amazing too. Great strings.
