This is my second review for these strings. I'm writing it because for the heck of it I bought some Ernie Balls. I used to use them only but back in the late 80's or early 90's it seemed like they changed. They would always break before they would go flat. I put a set on one of my guitars (10's by the way) and before they were broken in I broke the E string. Then I remembered why I stopped buying them. I tried all types of strings until one day I found D'Addario strings. I used 9's back then. I use D'Addario 10's now. I have all my guitars set up for them. They will go flat before they break. I play very hard and anything not of good quality will break on me. I promise you that if you try these strings you will not be disappointed in them. I've been playing a long time so, trust me guys. I will not use any other string except this specific D'Addario string.

I don't know whether to blame Musicians Friend for not checking their merch, or blame D'Addario for cheaping out during these tough economic times... But I ordered, AND PAID FOR, a 10 pack of strings, and what came in the box was 9 packs... And of course it was Memorial day wknd full of gigs and no time to pack it up and return it b/c I had to put 2 of those sets on right away... Bummer. First bad experience I have had with either MF or D'Add- so i should probably just quit complaining. So much for the discount I received for ordering online.

I've long wanted a Larrivee RS-4 since I was permitted to keep one for about a month a few years ago. At the time, these guitars came with factory installed strings such as Elixir & Cleartone. Soon as I got the "loaner" RS-4, I put XL110's on it, loved it. When it was time to give it back, I put on one of the above mentioned brands, didn't like 'em, immediately put on a new set of XL110's, & the RS-4 was back to wonderful.
I've recently purchased my own RS-4. Lo & behold it came to me with XL110's to my surprise/delight.
All that to say that someone else figured out that D'Add XL110's are the right strings for the Larrivee RS-4.

A friend recomm these and they're great. He said my old strings looked like condoms b/c of the packaging. I knew then I needed to get up to date! These hold up well and sound awesome.

I been using these strings for 12 yrs and only broke 3. Less is More on these babies, I mean Price versus Quality...Used Ernie Balls prior to these and would break one everynight, hard bending.. Started using these and quit breaking and started makin music again without worry about when it was going to happen.It wasn't bad saddles or rough frets that was breaking Ernies it was lack of Quality !!!! D Addario's XL 10-46's are the ticket to playing all night without breaking a string. I never use them more than 2 shows or 8 hrs ,so I have never wore a set out in the Tone department. Order a 10 pack and be on ur way....

These strings perform well, and they're inexpensive. Sometimes I use Ernie Balls, but can't tell the difference, and these tend to be cheaper.
I play 4-8 hours a day, including lots of blues bending, and I can't remember the last time one of these broke (maybe a year ago?)

These D'addario EXL 110's are a solid, all-around light gauge electric string. Brighter and smoother than Ernie Balls. Great value too if you buy the 10 pack. You get more tone out of the standard 10's than you will from a custom gauge set or 9's. Great strings!
