A few weeks ago, I had a string break which hasn't happened in a while though I knew I was pounding my set of strings hard; day in, day out I have been practicing and playing with a few buddies though my set of Ernie Ball hybrids (orange pack) took the beating well.

After which, I decided to try another brand of string and since I was listening to Guthrie Govan a LOT, I thought it may be a good idea to try Rotosound strings. Headed over to my local guitar shop, all they had were Roto 11's. I was contemplating for a good 5 minutes on what to do because I had a horrible experience with a set of D'addario acoustic strings and didn't want that to happen again...but I decided to tempt faith. Bought a pack of EXL110s, went home, and cleaned and set up my guitar as I do with each string change.

Once I put on that new set though, my guitar was SET! They have a different feel to them compared to Ernie Ball strings though I actually found them incredibly easier to play. The strings actually felt like they were ready to play right out of the pack and hardly needed any sort of stretching. They are a tad bright though at the same time have a VERY balanced tone which I liked. With Ernie Ball sets, a difference in gauge can be a difference in tone though the reason for buying hybrid sets (9s on the top, 10s on the bottom) was to accomodate my lead playing with the rhythm. Though with these D'addario strings, I felt like I didn't even need any custom gauges or hybrid sets.

I can't deny that my guitar setup didn't help though considering I adjusted neck relief and action again which helped tremendously though the tone of these strings has been consistent for close to a month now and I've been playing EVERY day for at least 2 hours.

I'd say D'addario did a great job and I must say that Musicians Friend has a great deal on here! Next pay check, definitely getting myself a 3-pack.

Have used these on Fender Stratocasters, Gibson Les Pauls (both HBs and P90s), Jackson (Scot Ian), and Parker Fly and Nitefly. I like the tonal expression of these strings through single-coil PUPs, less so with HBs. These strings express a crisp, bright, warm sound and ringing timbre. I see the principal contraindication of these strings is the extraordinary finger noise generated when playing lead aggressively. This phenomenon is generally true of round wound strings but this model takes it to a new level.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings 3-Pack:

I put these on my guitar and now I am able to product musical notes by striking them. Before, my guitar went "plink, plink, plink". Now it goes "bow chicka wow wow"! 10/10 would recommend.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings 3-Pack:

I've used these strings for years, simply because they have good tone, don't break and they are inexpensive. I've tried other brands and keep coming back to these. They are consistent, and do the job very well.

I love these strings. I've used these most of the time that I've played guitar. Every so often, I try something new just to be sure, but I always come back to D'Addario.
          Your basic 10-46 string set.
These strings keep their tone longer and last longer than any others I've tried.
Great value for the money. Long lasting.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings 3-Pack:

Using these strings for 20 - 30 years, not sure, time flies. Reliable - I only change strings sometimes because I just feel bad that I haven't or I'm going into the studio. They stay in tune and last many many gigs. Quality - I have never broken one of these. And I can be pretty demanding. I don't do whammy bar dive bombs anymore, but back in the day I never had a problem. I never understood how you break a string while playing, I figured it had to be the players instrument, but don't know, I just know that I've never had the problem.

My experience is only with and old Fender Strat and a decent Tele knock-off. I started using these strings years ago because I read that Pete Anderson used them. Would love to write a review about how they are on a Gibson if anyone wants to send me a Les Paul?!?!
