I bought these strings as an alternate to my go-to Ernie Ball Regular Slinky sets. I was hoping to experience that "round, bright" tone many D'Addario XL users tell me about. Unfortunately, I did not experience it.My guitar has lost all its detail: it sounds flat, dull, and unappealing. If anything, it lost its natural bright tone.I do appreciate its quality, which is better than my normal Slinky set, and its ease in use (it feels better).I guess I'll stick to my Slinkys until I find the need to try another brand.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110+ XL 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

These are good strings, I've played D' Addario for a long time now, long life, good tone tone, the works. I like this half gauge set for my les paul. I usually play 10's on a strat, or tremelo guitar. With the shorter scale of Les Pauls, or any Gibson type guitar the tension is less than Fenders, or guitars like that. 11's are ok, but can get a little heavy, and the 10.5 gauge is just right.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110+ XL 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

For some guitars, 10's are too light, and 11's are too heavy. I usually play 11's, but my Hamer Newport just responds better to these. Stiff enough to drive hard, loose enough to bend easily.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110+ XL 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

i just picked up a few sets of these the other day and i must say that i did enjoy them. though small, the difference in the string thickness make the strings handle my drop tuning (drop c#) much better and they go out of tune way less often. after trying them out on my main guitar, i put them on my 3 other guitars without hesitation. the sound is a bit darker than i expected (most noticeable when played with an unplugged electric) but they are just as clear and crisp as any other d'addario strings. buy em today!

Perfect compromise

By Dodger916

Comments about D'Addario EXL110+ XL 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

I bought a used Les Paul that came with 11s which opened my eyes to the advantages of heavier srings. The 11s were a bit rough for me, but 10.5s supply the girth and punch of 11s with the easier playability of 10s. I find they last a bit longer than 10s, and tend to stay in tune a bit better. This is now my go-to gauge for Les Pauls.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110+ XL 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

I read that Johnny Lang uses these on his telecaster. I usually use the 10's Light Top Heavy Bottom. Thought I'd try these on my strat. So far so good. A little easier and quicker fretting on the bottom, and I believe I'm getting a slightly better tone on my high strings. I'll use a couple more sets and see how my playing improves.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110+ XL 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

10's are a little light and 11's are a little stiff for me. These are right in the middle for my feel and finger pressure. I've used this gauge for years and always order more to keep on hand. Experienced players know what feels right for them.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110+ XL 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

I have a couple of guitars where I find even .010 gauge strings to be too light and .011 gauge strings to be too heavy. These D'Addario .0105 gauge strings are just perfect! It's amazing how much of a difference .0005 can make, but it does. These are impossible to find at most music stores and sites, so having them available at MF is great for me. The pricing is excellent also especially when you factor in free shipping.

if you are used to using 10's in standard tuning and need to tune down a half step on a short scale guitar like a les paul I found these to be the perfect solution to get the same tension back so strings do not feel floppy and the .0105's don't feel like tree trunks like they do on standard 11 gauge sets on the E and B strings.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110+ XL 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

Once again, I only buy D'Adarrio.
Love these strings on my Strat. They sound a little richer than 10's, but are easier on your fingers than 11's. I am mostly a hard rock and blues player, so of course I bend strings alot. The 10+ gives me the extra resistence I prefer over 10's but yet I can bend a whole step without feeling like I am fighting my guitar.
I practice a lot and mostly with the strat. They seem to last about 40 hours before they start to sound dull. Not bad considering how much string bending I do.
I only buy D'Adarrio for my 2 electrics and 2 acoustics.
