Comments about D'Addario EXL110W Nickel Regular Light Wound 3rd Electric Guitar Strings:

In all fairness to these strings, I don't know how they perform. I bought these strings as a gift to an Oklahoma guitar-picking buddy in Bengal. When he tells me how well they performed, I will let you all know.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110W Nickel Regular Light Wound 3rd Electric Guitar Strings:

I use these mainly for my Stratocaster and Cyclone. I like these because the set has a wound third (G)string that gives me a better tone and feel. These strings seem to stay bright longer than other strings I've used and are easy to play too !

I have been a guitar player for 56 years.
I have played electric guitar most of that time.
I have tried most popular brands, but none compare to D'Addario EXL110W.
These are the very best string I ever used, and thats all I have used for the past 15 years

          great for old jazz guitars

          By John Hancock

Comments about D'Addario EXL110W Nickel Regular Light Wound 3rd Electric Guitar Strings:

These are just what the doctor ordered... brighter cause of a smaller gauge...

wound 3rd cause it is going on an old acoustic with a pickup...

and less tension cause it is an old guitar... puts less stress on the bridge...

smooth = less fret wear etc...

I strayed away, came back, and I'll never leave!

          By David Proctor

          from Northern New Mexico

Comments about D'Addario EXL110W Nickel Regular Light Wound 3rd Electric Guitar Strings:

I recently bought a Carvin SH550, paid a lot for this custom guitar. I was so tickled when it came in. I plugged it in, tuned it up and played. I was disappointed, didn't sound right. Tried playing with settings on my amp, tone controls, etc. Just wasn't right... sounded out of tune, I couldn't figure it out, because intonation was dead on, it has locking tuners... After a couple of weeks of wondering if I just got a lemon somehow, I re-strung with a set of D'Addario EXL 110w's I had in my Telecaster case. Buddy, that was the secret! The guitar sounds, plays like I knew it should... The wound G holds better tune. The fact that it doesn't bend like some guitarists want makes it hold better tune if you don't fret it precisely right, I guess that's it. I should also say that I'm primarily an acoustic player, maybe the wound G feels better. I definitely like the tonal characteristics better when chording, and I play mostly rhythm. But even when I'm running scales or picking little licks, the wound G sounds great. I will never go to another set of strings again. I'm sold.
The wound third (G) on this set is the key feature, and it makes a big difference to the overall tone. It also solved a bothersome tuning problem.
I've been very satisfied with the life of these strings. I seldom break one, they keep bright tone for a long time. Just wipe 'em down after every performance and you'll probably double the string life. They may not last as long as treated/coated strings, but the other factors make these my strings of choice.
I hope D'Addario makes these available in bulk sets soon. Until then I'll pay the low price a set for individual sets, still a bargain. Even in the stores they're one of the best values on the shelf.

          Great For metal and more!

Comments about D'Addario EXL110W Nickel Regular Light Wound 3rd Electric Guitar Strings:

The only strings I will use. Great for metal and anythng else. Clean tones really come to life with the wound 3rd and low tune metal really gets a lot more definition with these strings on my axe.

          Awesome Strings

          By Anonymous

Comments about D'Addario EXL110W Nickel Regular Light Wound 3rd Electric Guitar Strings:

While playing with regular strings, i am constantly bothered by the loudness of the regular third string. It makes me and my guitar sound horrible. As soon as I saw these, i had to jump right on them. Withen minutes i went from dirty sounds and uneasyness to perfect intonation. These strings are bluesy and jazzy, and can make distorted chords picture clear. I suggest this to anyone who wants perfect intonation and clear tones. Great Job D'Addario

Feel and sound great, G quiet

          By woahwoahyeah

          from wisconsin

Comments about D'Addario EXL110W Nickel Regular Light Wound 3rd Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings feel and sound great. They give a smoother transition to the treble strings in both regards. Only problem is, the G is VERY quiet compared to a regular (unwound) G. Back in the day, all electric guitars had wound thirds. If you play those old guitars with new guitar strings, the unwound third will sound collossal because the pole pieces were set up for the wound G, which has much less steel. Modern guitars' pickups are set up for unwound thirds, and by using a wound G string you'll run into the opposite problem - the G string will be far too quiet. If you have adjustable pole pieces, raise the pole piece below your third string to get a better volume balance. Like I said, the transition is much smoother from low to high, in both feel and sound.
