I have a Les Paul and a Strat. These guitars are like night and day when it comes to sound and feel. When it comes to sound each is unique which is why we all like them. But they have a different feel when the same string gauge is put on each guitar and that is due to their scale lengths. A Les Paul is 24 3/4" scale and a Strat is 25 1/2. When you put 10's on a Strat they feel tighter then on a Les Paul. I found it frustratingly difficult to go from one to the next. I looked into it and calculated the string tension of different gauge sets for both guitars and found that putting the D'addario EXL120+ (9.5's) on my Strat that the string tension closely matched that of 10's on the Les Paul. When I tested this out on the guitars I was amazed at how much alike the two guitars felt. String bends were more accurate and playing more rewarding. If anyone has a preference of one guitar to another because of how the strings feel, I recommend trying different size sets to match the tension that that does feel good in your hands. More guitars will feel better and that only means...now you can have a bigger arsenal of guitars. We all like having more guitars!!!!

I've had these strings on my Telecaster for 5 days and they already show significant signs of wear. They actually showed some in the two spots I played most (I was working on a particular solo at the time) after less than 24 hours. Brand new, the tone was OK and the feel was about average, but after less than a week they look like some strings do after months. I may have gotten a dud, but as for the set I got, they were just plain awful.

Comments about D'Addario EXL120+ Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I find the .009 set to be too light and the .010 set to feel a bit stiff. These feel just right; big bends are smooth and the tone is consistent. My only con is I wish I could buy them in bulk as I string all 10 of my guitars with them. Help me out D'adario please!

Comments about D'Addario EXL120+ Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

Been playing as a hobbyist for 20 years. Mostly rock & metal. No pro experience as a guitar player.
I have moved on from DR Half-Tite sets to these. I have also tried the D'addario NYXL in this same gauge but I found them too spongy like a regular set of 9's, and they were not any brighter than the EXL120+. These are about 1/3 the cost of NYXL and almost 1/2 the cost of DR.
The DR set has more crunch on the high end and the D'addario has more crunch in the midrange.
DR does last longer but is more expensive.

Comments about D'Addario EXL120+ Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I love this .095 set for my Telecasters. They're a little easier to bend and control than .010s and not as rubbery and thin sounding as .009s. Typical D'Addario quality which is to say they're both consistent and dependable. They're an excellent all around string.

Comments about D'Addario EXL120+ Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I've gone through many phases during my 30 years of guitar playing but I always seem to go back to D'Addario strings. They are inexpensive, they are consistently high quality, they sound great for a long time, and the selection of types/gauges is pretty impressive.

The EXL120+ is the perfect set for Fender scale length guitars. On my Stratocaster, the .09 set feels like rubber bands and can sometimes sound a little weak; the .10s sound great but the tension really wears on my hands and wrists during extended playing. With the 120+ set, I get great tone and just the right amount of resistance and feedback during bends without fatiguing my hands and arms. I really feel like they give you the best of both worlds and are an excellent compromise for those who want the tone of heavier strings and the ease of playing found with lighter sets.

I will continue to use EXL110 sets on my Gibson scale length guitars but these 120+ strings will be the only strings you find on the rest. Thanks, D'Addario!

Comments about D'Addario EXL120+ Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

A set of .009s just seems to light and thin sounding for me on my Teles so for years I used .010s. Then about a year ago I came across a good friend who was playing these .0095s so I tried them and have been very pleased with both the tone and the "feel". For certain guitars they've become my go to standard string. From reading over some of the comments apparently I'm not alone and I've noticed that other manufacturers are beginning to follow suit with their own .0095 sets including a few who offer Pure Nickel strings in this gauge as well. I'd like to see D'Addario do the same.
