OVERVIEW

More dynamic control and consistent feel. There's a reason they call 'em "balanced".

The EXL120BT Lite Electric Guitar Strings are part of the D’Addario Balanced Tension Series that are comprised of mathematically optimized string gauge combinations, resulting in greater control and playing comfort. Combined with the distinctive bright tone of XL nickel wound strings, each set offers greater dynamic control and a more consistent feel between strings for evenly balanced bending, strumming, fretting, picking, plucking and slapping. EXL120BT gauges range from 9-40.

Comments about D'Addario EXL120BT Balanced Tension X-Lite Electric Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

As far as balanced tension they are very good in that respect. I feel you can't gain something over a tried and tested thing without giving up on certain aspects. So here, we are giving up that oh so familiar bottom end in trade for a balanced feel. At first these strings felt very alien because of the different gauges. I feel that these strings are overall a good product but this particular gauge is more suited to the begining player, or those with weaker hands. This is because the bass strings are a lighter gauge and the reason most experienced players will avoid them. Simply the bottom end dynamics suffer loss of clean twang and overdrive crunch. I will replace them after I put a little wear on them since they are on one of my practice axes. I would not gig with these. I must say however that I do like the treble strings and the increments from .09 to .12 to .15 and after using them for a while, I'm starting to think they feel more natural than .09 to .11 to .16 with noticicably more sustain and brilliance with the b, (2nd) string. I have not yet tried the .10 to .46 set which I am anticipating to like much better than these. They are quite simply a lot closer to a standard .10 to 46 set.
