I always play D'Addarios because they're always corrosion free out of the package & I never break them.Light Top Heavy Bottom means they are NOT a balanced set.10s on top are for reasonable bending ease.If you play predominantly "cowboy" open chords, I would recommend 10-46 instead. These 52 heavy bottoms will make open chords sound a little strange. However if you play predominantly power chord rhythm & play with a moderate amount of picking hand force, these strings are definitely for you. Their tone is very similar to 10-46 with the exception of some low-end frequencies that are either not present or barely perceivable at all on lighter strings. Heavy bottom is like adding a subwoofer to your strings to enhance that low end that shakes your body.If you play anything from commercial power-pop to heavy metal, there is a good chance these are the strings you have been looking for, & you may even find a low end that you didn't even know you were missing!

Comments about D'Addario EXL140 Nickel Light Top/Heavy Bottom Electric Guitar Strings:

These seem to bring the best out of my pickups. Also since I have such a heavy attack, I'm pleased to say they don't break. I use Fender Heavy's and I'll wear out a pick before I even have to change them.

Comments about D'Addario EXL140 Nickel Light Top/Heavy Bottom Electric Guitar Strings:

Love this brand of string. I usually play with 10s (10-46). Got these cause I needed a little extra tension since I'm in a band that plays a half step flat. These are good strings but, if you never played with a unbalanced set, its like your strings are on a step so to speak. Feels as if you got to grab a little more to get those top strings if your playing bigger chords than just power chords. For metal, there great. If your a country or blues player, ya might want to think about going to the 11s

I've been using D'Addario for 29 years now. I've attempted to use other strings, and ended up using Ernie Ball for a few years, but came back to D'Addario because I love the tone and that they really hold up and keep that bright sound I love.

I've used dadderio strings for years. I worked at a music store and tried pretty much every type and or brand of strings and stick to dadderio exclusively. They are consistent to every set, last a long time, give a GREAT tone and just feel soft and smooth under your fingers. Unlike other brands, they dont feel like theyre sanding your fingers when you slide. This set I've been using for awhile now and they feel amazing. Good chunky tone while being tight. Great for heavier music like metal, detunings, and anything else. I play anything from blues, classic rock all the way to punk and extremely heavy metal on these. Good buy.

Comments about D'Addario EXL140 Nickel Light Top/Heavy Bottom Electric Guitar Strings:

I used these strings with my singlepickup Archtop. They sound pretty good unplugged, a usable sound that may be mic'd depending on the desired sound. When they were brand new they created a strange distortion similar to the scratchy sound when a low-quality cable is moved around when plugged in to an amplifier. This may have been due to the high, bright output of these new strings. I mainly bought these to play in straight fourths tuning (EADGCF)for the jazz stuff I do. These strings, when tuned as I do, feel like a standard set of 12's which is what I personally like. Definitely a good product that I will be buying again.

These strings are amazing. As a guitarist, and bassist who does mostly studio work I need a set of strings that can basicly play it all, and these do, and that is why I have ben using them for the past 7 years. If you are looking to buy a set of strings that can do it all, this is them.
