Comments about D'Addario EXL158 Light Baritone Electric Guitar Strings:
These strings made me switch from Ernie Ball. They sound great and are exactly what I was looking for. I'm in Drop A right now and the low A is a little more loose than I would like it to be, but it still works just fine. These are perfect for Drop A# (Drop Bb). I strongly recommend these strings for people who enjoy down tuning. These are actually the strings Alex Wade from Whitechapel uses on his 7 string, he just adds a .10 for the first string.
Comments about D'Addario EXL158 Light Baritone Electric Guitar Strings:
Inspired by other reviews, I strung up an LP junior type guitar with P90s tuned with these B to B. Strings are a little slack, but the tone is sharp enough.
(Almost) bass runs on the lower strings sound very funky. Single note runs on the higher strings are okay. However, you can bend a half step up just pressing down the string, which sounds like Hell if you try to play a chord and use anything but the lightest touch. You can forget intonation, especially of the 062.
But it's really not fair to judge these strings on less than a 27" scale (or at least a Fender) guitar. It's impressive that you can get good usable tone from them on a short scale guitar.

Been messing around, trying to find the right tension for the lower tuning i want.. and low and behold, baritone strings!! i have a epiphone prophecy les paul ex tuned to drop A#/Bb and these strings are PERFECT! tension is comparable to 10's in standard.. was worried about the 62 fitting in the tuning peg but it wasnt a issue. finally settled on a string brand and gauge..

These strings are nothing short of spectacular! I tune them down two steps to C F A# D# G C (I suppose since these are Baritone strings, it's actually a half step up) and they keep tension very well on my 25.5 inch scale BC Rich Virgin Standard. They sound amazing! Not too bright, not too warm! Perfect for the kinds of music I play! I'd recommend them to anyone that plays lower than D G C F A D! I won't play any other strings!
Comments about D'Addario EXL158 Light Baritone Electric Guitar Strings:
I'm a guitar player who prefers wound 3rds, and I tune my main guitar down a whole step. I bought these to do a detuning on my Epiphone Gothic V with Floyd Rose tremelo (standard guitar, not a baritone). They are great strings. I love the feel of them, and they stay in tune really well. However, on my guitar I couldn't tune the strings higher than Dropped Db: Db-Gb-Cb-Fb-Ab-Db without putting too much tension on the bridge. I did tighten the springs in the back of the guitar as far as they would go, and the these strings still couldn't make it up to a drop-whole step tuning. I really thought these strings would be what I was looking for, but Dropped Db is just too muddy for most of the music I play. I'm trying Fender's 250H set.
Comments about D'Addario EXL158 Light Baritone Electric Guitar Strings:
If you don't have the loot to get a decent baritone guitar and know your guitar can hold 13 gauge strings, don't hesitate to try these strings. Just think of it as losing your high end octave and gaining the low end. If you're into walking bass lines or light slapping on your guitar while playing lines or chords, these are the best I've found.
