I just put these on a 32" scale Squier Telecaster bass (with a Lollar pup in it!). Mid to short scale basses can get some weird floppy tones with a .105 E string. I use .45 - .105's on my long scale bass and couldn't figure out how to get my short scale to sound right. These just did the trick. Direct to my Ampeg Micro-VR they sound quite descent and stomping on a Tech 21 VT-Bass pedal takes these to the moon! Bright highs (I scoop the mids) and punchy lows. I am getting those piano harmonics and they let my bass respond to the low end properly now. My E string sounds great! I'm sold on these .45 - .100's on this bass! I hope they last a while but at this price, I am scooping up more in advance.

I bought these strings because they're cheap, now I see why. When I got the strings I put them on and was disapointed right of the bat. These strings were bright, but it was that bad kind of bright where it had a very toneless clanking. Once broken in these strings sounded very bad, (That's the only way I can describe the tone). Then within about 1 WEEK, they died leaving behind a trail of dull, horrid, uneven tone. I'd skip these if I were you.

Comments about D'Addario EXL170TP Round Wound Bass Guitar Strings 2-Pack:

Ordered them the first time due to price. That was years ago. I loved them the 1st time I used them and have no intentions of changing. They last long, stay in tune, and sound great. Best bang for the buck in the business.

Very bright sound, great modern sound for rock, jazz rock and slap. Great sustain too. Even across and up the neck. Excellent price!

Comments about D'Addario EXL170TP Round Wound Bass Guitar Strings 2-Pack:

These are great strings for the price. The tone and life of the strings are certainly strong points. Where the strings lack a bit for me is in tension. They are a bit more "floppy" than some of the more expensive strings I have used. Overall, I'm sure I will buy them again at some point simply because of the quality you get for the price.

Comments about D'Addario EXL170TP Round Wound Bass Guitar Strings 2-Pack:

I have been using these strings for over 30 years! I have used them for everything from recording albums & demos to gigs large and small. I believe these are a good part of why I get so many compliments on my tone! They can be bright if you want that or a minor adjustment of the tone knob and they can go to BOOM! I have a fairly aggressive playing style and they are easy on my fingers.
