I bought this capo to use as a songwriting tool, I found it to have an accesible price, a nice look and a solid feel. I must have used the capo almost every day for around 7 months, sometimes for hours, sometimes just to see if a song sounded better in a different key.

The capo broke after around a year, it did a very good job of staying "in tune" and never slipped off, etc. One day, while tightening the wheel to adjust the pressure while putting it on, I heard a snap and when I looked I saw that the rod which the adjustment screw rides on had snapped at the tip. I was very sad to see it go since I did enjoy the design.

I opted for another company's capo in this price range, this NS capo is a great concept, I think it would benefit from stronger materials.

Excellent Capo

By Douglas Gallardo Jr

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Aluminum Screw Type Capo:

I am highly satisfied with this purchase, and have already recommended it to friends. I recommend it to anyone looking for a quality capo that won't get in the way.

The only other thing I need to state is that when you are not using this capo, you have to take it off and put it somewhere. With a spring loaded capo, I would clip it on the head of the guitar, in case I needed to used it again. I suppose you could find a way to make this one work in a similar fashion, but it would take longer to put it on and take it off, then adjust more to get it to fit over the neck again.
The thumb screw used to tighten this capo, combined with the very fine threads, make for a pleasant experience when screwing it into place, and allow for very precise control of the tension on the strings. The bar covering the strings is just a bit longer than the fret board on my guitar, which means that it doesn't get in the way as much as all of the spring-loaded capos I have used in the past, especially when playing a B7, or any other chord which requires all fingers. The padding on the inside of the capo is soft enough not to damage the finish on any part of the guitar's neck, yet firm enough not to allow fret buzz.

I gave it a 9 only because I couldn't choose a different size that was just a cm or so shorter, to avoid getting in the way completely. Otherwise, this is the best capo I have ever owned.
I haven't owned this capo for very long, so I don't know what the durability or life expectency is, but the construction and selection of materials is high quality. I don't expect to have any problems with it any time in the near future.
A really great product for the low price.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Aluminum Screw Type Capo:

I've owned and (reluctantly) used capos for more than 40 years, and every style you can imagine: elastic-band style, the big clamp-on kind and the horse-shoe shaped ones. They're a pain to put on and take off, and you have to fiddle constantly to get all the strings to ring clear and true, but there's that certain song (you all have one) that you just can't get the sound you want any other way. I've put up with them as a necessary evil, so when I discovered this little jewel I was very pleased! Lay it on the neck, turn the knob maybe half a turn, and start playing. It clamps without excessive force, it's small enough to not get in the way too much, and it's not all that fussy about placement, so it's very forgiving if you need a little extra room, a little farther from the fret.

I ordered one on a whim. I recommend that you order one on purpose!

      Easy to use

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Aluminum Screw Type Capo:

I don't play professionally anymore, but enjoy recording on the GarageBand program on my iMac just for me. And, I don't always use a capo. However, when I do I don't like the hassel of getting the thing set just right and having to tune up again. The short time I've used the NS it has worked like a dream. Glad I bought it.
Simple one hand operation. It easily went from my acoustic to my strat to the jazz box. Didn't have to do a bit of tuning correction. I've tried several capos over the years (still have one that I bought back in 1963) and this one is by far the best.
Light weight. Well consturcted. Easy to attach with one hand. Leaving your other hand free for a sip of beer between songs.
I've paid more for capos that are collecting dust or have been given away.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Aluminum Screw Type Capo:

My first requirement is that the capo not interfere with chord shapes. The best for this, I thought, was a cast capo with a sector gear and screw, but this one is lighter, takes up less room, and it interferes the least of any medal capo.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Aluminum Screw Type Capo:

Why hasn't somebody thought of this before? Although I use both hands to install it, once in place, it doesn't require all the fidgeting and adjustment needed to obtain a clean sound, unlike the other types of capos I've used, especially the trigger or spring clamping types.I just hold it in place and tighten the screw sufficiently to hold it securely and it works perfectly. Makes no difference that it doesn't readily clamp to the headstock (it maybe handy, but personally I think it looks tacky).Superbly designed and made from high quality materials, I can use this capo on both my 6 & 12 string guitars up to at least the 7th fret and the micrometer screw adjustment allows me to apply just the right amount of pressure to obtain a clean, clear sound without applying so much pressure as to pull the strings out of tune. Combine this with the slim, thin design that doesn't interfere with my fingering (even bar chords) and you have what I believe to be the most functional capo I've ever used! I've even purchased one designed for use on my banjo. I really hope they NEVER stop making these...I'll use them forever!

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Aluminum Screw Type Capo:

Got my first one included with a used guitar purchase. I no longer use anything else. These are small and accurate. Easily and quickly adjusted. Other capos always seem to get in my way. These are as close to "not being there" as I have been able to find. I watch others using capos that have spring loaded handles and they always seem to be fidgeting around with them trying to find just the right spot so they fret all the strings yet not put them out of tune. With this capo, simply place it right behind the desire fret and turn the micro adjustment knob until the strings are touching the fret. if any strings don't ring true, turn the knob another 1/8 to 1/4 turn.

If you need a capo that allows you to stay in tune up and down the neck, this is it. It's not a quick change capo, although you can easily change positions in 10 seconds with practice.

This capo allows you to put just enough pressure on the strings to solidly fret the strings, but not so much that you bend the strings out of tune. Particularly useful if you need a capo on an instrument with jumbo frets.
