OVERVIEW

All the features of the NS Mini, and more, but in an even smaller size.

The NS Micro offers improved accuracy, faster response, expanded calibration range, visual metronome mode and an improved ratchet design. A highly sensitive piezo transducer and easy-to-read multi-color backlit display allow smooth and highly accurate tuning in noisy, dim or well-lit environments while the micro design and reversible screen allow the tuner to hide effortlessly behind or mount on the front side of the headstock allowing the tuner to remain clamped to the instrument inside most cases when stored. A 360-degree swivel mechanism and adjustable padded clamp offer optimal viewing angles and maximum positioning flexibility. As a result, the NS Micro is equally at home on left- and right-handed instruments as well as on small and large headstocks, making it an ideal choice for the widest variety of players and instruments. The NS Micro is powered by a readily available CR2032 battery (included) and provides maximum battery life utilizing an auto-off function, shutting the tuner off automatically after several minutes from power up.

FEATURES
  • Built-in piezo transducer picks up instrument's vibration rather than sound
  • Improved software for faster response and improved accuracy
  • Tri-color reversible backlit LCD screen makes it easy to tune in dark environments while allowing mounting in front or behind headstock
  • Wide calibration range (410Hz to 480Hz) and visual metronome
  • Compact design blends into the aesthetics of instrument while adding considerably less weight than other headstock tuners
  • Tunes acoustic and electric guitars, basses, mandolins, banjos and other stringed instruments

Does what it claims to do. I've been using a Snark SN8B and I've been happy with the tuning performance of it. But I've also broken a few as they are a bit gangly and tend to be in harm's way the way they stick out of the headstock. The NS Micro Headstock Tuner's tuning performance is completely comparable to the Snark's, but is much more compact. I've been using it on a Martin 000-15m and a Fender Blacktop Jaguar, and it blends into the headstock on both of these very nicely. The clamp is tight and confidence-inspiring. And there's no need to remove it when placing the guitar in a hard case (as the Snark requires). It's completely tucked in, and out of harm's way. I highly recommend this tuner.

This is the first tuner if this type I've used and it works great in the home or where ever there isn't much ambient noise, but it's definitely not a good stage tuner. It picks up every noise on stage, which makes for a difficult time trying to retune during a performance. I found myself having to wait for a quiet moment then hurriedly tuning whichever string was out. For home use, it works well, just not on stage.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Micro Headstock Tuner:

I am a left-handed guitar player, and tuners that clip on are usually like everything else in the guitar world, geared toward righty's. But this tuner is flexible, is solid, tuning is a breeze with it. It is small enough that I leave it clipped on my Taylor DN4e, so i'll be getting a few more for the old Guild D-40 and others.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Micro Headstock Tuner:

I ordered some more PlanetWaves headstock tuners and these came instead---they're apparently newer/updated models. Still compact, unobtrusive and accurate. The compact design might limit visibility with some placements but it surely contributes to keeping the unit out of harm's way and accidental damage. Small enough to leave on you axe when you put it to bed in its case. They work just as well as the original version with theses added/updated features: (1) Metronome (visual) function, (2)Display "flip" function (useful!), and (3) an easier to use clamp/clip. The battery compartment is, however, more difficult to open than the original version---you may need a pair of needle-nose pliers to apply the proper amount of squeeze and pull to release the battery holder. The good news is that I've been using my original ones daily, for months, and have yet to replace the battery.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Micro Headstock Tuner:

I love this tuner, I have one for each of the guitars I play often. I just leave it clipped on the headstock. It's small enough to leave there all the time and doesn't interfere with the case. It has a little slower response time than a Snark, but is faster than other tuners I've used. People rarely notice it's on the guitar. It even works well with my 12 strings. Best of all they clip on my Ovations with no trouble.

Perfect fit on my telecaster and Danelectro and other guitars with little room on the the head stock. Work well with both acoustic and solid body electrics. Tuning is right on when compared to other tuning devices, including a tuning fork. Also dirt cheap (cost wise that is).

Micro did not register when I ordered this but it did when I saw it. On first appearance I thought it was a waste of money. I am older, the eyes are not what they used and be and biger is usually best. However upon clipping to headstock I was very impressed. It quickly became my favorite tuner and I have a few.

I've bought four pairs now (eight in all) because they work better than the others I own, sensitive enough to do the low E on my old Jazz Bass as well as the high G on my solid body twelve string. This is a very good tuner.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Micro Headstock Tuner:

I've been using the Snark Basic Tuner for a couple of years now. It works fine, but I've never liked how it (or any other tuner I've used), looks on the headstock of my guitar. Guitar headstocks are beautiful, and I've never liked the "spider-like" piece of plastic sticking up from it.

The micro tuner solves that problem. It's so small, you can barely see it on the headstock. You can even mount in on the underside of the headstock so it's virtually invisible. If you mount it that way, you can press a button on the tuner that "flips" the screen so the letters appear right-side-up.

Best of all, the tuner is quite accurate. It uses a "traffic light" system of lights. If you're way out of tune (sharp or flat), the tuner gives you a red letter. Getting closer? You get a yellow letter. On the money? The letter turns green and you're good to go.

It works even when playing in loud venues where there is a lot of competing noise. I'd highly recommend this little gem to any guitar, banjo, or mandolin player who's looking to downsize their tuner
