OVERVIEW

Two tuners with all the features of the NS Mini, and more, but in an even smaller size.

The NS Micro offers improved accuracy, faster response, expanded calibration range, visual metronome mode and an improved ratchet design. A highly sensitive piezo transducer and easy-to-read multi-color backlit display allow smooth and highly accurate tuning in noisy, dim or well-lit environments while the micro design and reversible screen allow the tuner to hide effortlessly behind or mount on the front side of the headstock allowing the tuner to remain clamped to the instrument inside most cases when stored. A 360-degree swivel mechanism and adjustable padded clamp offer optimal viewing angles and maximum positioning flexibility. As a result, the NS Micro is equally at home on left- and right-handed instruments as well as on small and large headstocks, making it an ideal choice for the widest variety of players and instruments. The NS Micro is powered by a readily available CR2032 battery (included) and provides maximum battery life utilizing an auto-off function, shutting the tuner off automatically after several minutes from power up.

FEATURES
  • Built-in piezo transducer picks up instrument's vibration rather than sound
  • Improved software for faster response and improved accuracy
  • Tri-color reversible backlit LCD screen makes it easy to tune in dark environments while allowing mounting in front or behind headstock
  • Wide calibration range (410Hz to 480Hz) and visual metronome
  • Compact design blends into the aesthetics of instrument while adding considerably less weight than other headstock tuners

This item is very much improved over the previous model. I really like the streamlined compact design that doesn't stick out like a "sore thumb" off the headstock. Visually, it blends well with the headstock on my PRS SE Custom.

The D'Addario NS-Micro 2-pack is a really great idea because it was a pain swapping out a single tuner between my working guitar and my stay-at-home guitar. I guess I balked at getting a 2nd one previously because of these 2 things in particular that got fixed with this new design. With the old one, surface pressure from being jostled in the gig bag almost always either (1) turned it on & used up battery life, or (2) dislodged it from its bracket so I had to hunt for it & reconnect it . Neither of those situations has occurred yet with the new design. Plus, the display orientation is user changeable, so you can mount it on the front or back of the headstock & still read it correctly.

I haven't had a gig with this one out in sunlight yet, but I recall the old one being hard to see in sunlight. That's the reason I also use on BOSS TU-2 tuner on my pedalboard(PedalBoard Nano). I've found the new D'Addario NS-Micro Headstock Tuner to be as accurate as the TU-2, which is a good thing, if I decide to free up that TU-2 space on Pedalboard Nano for some other effect.

Overall, in my opinion, this D'Addario NS-Micro is probably the best Headstock Tuner available. Glad it's available in the 2-Pack.

I love and use everything D'Addario/Planet Waves makes EXCEPT this thing. It's the least sensitive tuner I've ever used! On guitar it takes forever to zero in on the pitch and on bass it reads nothing most of the time. Their last generation clip on tuner was great but they no longer make it. So I just ordered s Snark. We'll see....

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Micro Headstock Tuner (2-Pack):

I now have (8) of these tuners. Used on all my stringed instruments which includes various electric, acoustic, 12 string acoustic, bass, banjo, lap steel (clamped on a leg), & ukulele. They are very accurate and work great. The new ones have a better designed clamping mechanism which is much easier and slightly smaller than the original. The key to a quick accurate tune is to make sure the tuner fully touches the surface you are clamping it to. Just hold the tuner evenly on the surface then push the clamp to hold it. Nice. If you don't do that you may get some issues with the tuner "hunting" for the pitch. Like I said, the tuner works good on all these instruments but it does "hunt" a bit on the banjo. I suspect it is due to harmonics inherently created by the banjo head.
So, when you purchase these look for the set of two. The price can't be beat.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Micro Headstock Tuner (2-Pack):

My favorite of all the clip on's I used. A nice low profile clips on the back of the neck and I can put my guitar in the case without taking it off. Also has a metronome on it that I have not used yet . Nice touch.

I used these basically for my mandolin and Ukulele. Perfect size for these instruments. Easy to use, works very good but most important not bulky.

It's neat for sure. It's probably as good as all the other clip on tuners, I own several. Nothing beats my old Korg rack mount from the 90's though.

After buying one to try out I ordered the 2 pack so I wouldn't have to switch between guitars so much. I like the display, it's easy to see and that you can calibrate it, that makes it easy to tune down a half note which comes in handy for vocals and bending notes.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Micro Headstock Tuner (2-Pack):

I have 5 of these on Ukuleles and Basses. They hide nicely behind the head stock. I put them between the tuners so that the case can't turn them on. I also wedge a little paper in the release so I can't knock it off.

Got the first one to use on a Ukulele. It needed to be as small as possible for that little headstock. Now I have three and use them on my main instruments.
