Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS170 Regular Light Long Scale Bass Strings:
these strings came today and i was very impressed. super bright piano like tone as advertised, great, punchy, grimy low end, and brilliantly sharp highs. though these strings are noticably rougher on on my hand than other strings ive tried, im glad to compromise for their superior tone quality. i hope these last as long as people say they do
Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS170 Regular Light Long Scale Bass Strings:
These strings are great! I love the super bright tone especially when slapping. The only thing i don't like about them is that they feel significantly rougher on my hands than nickel strings. I've tried DR hi-beams before and I prefer them for steel strings since they're a lot nicer on my hands, but they're a bit more pricery. I think i'm gonna go back to the nickel d'addarios because I can get two sets for a few bucks more.
Overall a great string, and if you got tough hands you'll probably like em!
Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS170 Regular Light Long Scale Bass Strings:
Very bright, I love them. I have a Rogue LXB200 and a Behringer 45 watt amp, and i get the most beautiful sound. I really like that trebley, ringing piano-like 88 fingers Louie "Back on the Streets" sound, and i got just that. After a couple of days of intense practice they lost a bit of their brightness, but they still have a really nice sound.
Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS170 Regular Light Long Scale Bass Strings:
I'd been looking for my "dream" set of strings for years, and never quite coming across them until I had tried D'addario's ProSteel line. I was looking for a piano-like "chime" without sacrificing the low-end of my basses, and these were exactly what I'd been looking for. Not nearly as rough on your fingers as other stainless steel strings yet just enough to help toughen up your calluses, these are the perfect balance between super-slick coated strings and some of the earlier steel strings made that are still on the market. If you're looking for strings that'll help you cut through the mix whether live or in the studio, help with finding the perfect slapping or tapping sound and yet still sounds like a *bass*, look no further. That they last longer than all the steel strings I've tried in my playing career is a extra bonus - it's always nice to put off changing strings. Just wipe them down, and you'll be set for months. Nothing else gets placed on my fretted basses than D'addario ProSteels.
Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS170 Regular Light Long Scale Bass Strings:
The Tech at AXE music put a set of Prosteels on my Ibanez SR900 simply because he never had the right set of XLs. What a wonderful discovery, they lasted and lasted plus the sound was great and a decent feel to the string still I prefer the feel of Nickel strings. Afterwards I put on a set of GHS Boomers and after four weeks they went soo dead I was thinking something went wrong with my electronic on my my bass. I believe my SR900 pickups arent suited to Nickel strings so know I have a set of Prosteels back on and of course the problem is solved. The most bang for your buck. Im just concerned right now about premature fret wear.
Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS170 Regular Light Long Scale Bass Strings:
These Strings are amazing. These strings stay bright for a long time on my bass the top three strings are all still very bright and have that "new" feeling on them. These strings are a great buy I recomend them to any bass player
Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS170 Regular Light Long Scale Bass Strings:
and believe me I have used a lot. DRs, Rotos, Fenders, different D'Addarios, Warwick, Ernie Ball, I've used 'em all, and these are my favorites.THE brightest I have ever used, great for some funk, but best for Jazz and Prog.
Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS170 Regular Light Long Scale Bass Strings:
When I first got my bass it came with some boomers and at first it sounded great! However, after the first couple of weeks the sound died and I felt my bass lose its pop. As soon as I slapped on some of these steels it transformed my bass back into the funk machine I knew it could be. It sounds better than I ever could have imagined and with some new pickups I'm scared to see how it will play.
