Great for looking good, but bad for getting the perfect sound, unless you're looking for a flat sound.
I used these for around 6 months and the black never wore from the top of the string. It did wear off the back of the string wear it touched every fret, so that was interesting looking.
The black coating is great and looks cool, but it lacks good tone. I was trying to get a good punchy tone with my bass and could never find it with these. The tone is pretty muddy, you cant get any good pops from the speakers when slapping the bass with these strings.
They didn't ever break and the black stayed true, but the tone wasn't there.

I have to admit the black strings look pretty cool. The winding doesn't start for a couple of inches past the ball end making them easy to install. But the feel is sort of plastic. They feel like nylon strings and even a little squeaky. And the sound is not bright at all and a bit dull. The worst thing is that there are overtones above the 12th fret making them almost useless.

There are overtones above the 12th fret. Is that because I got a bad set or installed them incorrectly? I don't think so.
The price is good but they aren't usable!

The coating is very poor on the string that I received. I don't care for them and I didn't get what I thought I was ordering. I thought that I was getting coated strings that is easy on your fingers and don't make the sliding sound when moving up and down the strings. These strings are very poor quality.

great strings. they really last close to forever without getting that "rubbery" feel or sound with age. having used both pick techniques and finger plucking, these strings stand the test of time and durability. my first set i bought in november and lasted until june. im on my second set right now and they are still going strong. i know it seems unnatural to last this long but they do without any sound or feel difference over time. when i put on my second set of these my bass sounded exactly the same as the first. whether you use a pick or pluck, the paint still comes off where you pluck but its not noticeable unless you're up close. and these sound great from drop D to drop B tuning (since my band switched tuning). very very good buy!
