Drop-down tuning bass guitar strings that go right into tune and lock in.

The first thing you notice with DR Drop-Down Tuning Bass strings is how stable they are. DDT strings maintain their intonation at lower tunings far better than other strings you may have played or heard. Players say these bass strings are so stable it is almost eerie.

Now you can "stand and deliver" in-tune notes at lower pitches that are clean and clear—plus you can drop tune with confidence and accuracy. You'll be surprised how few adjustments you'll make to change tunings and will be even more surprised how well DR Drop-Down Tuning strings lock into tune. DR

Experienced players comment: "Tuned down, I was never able to play a favorite riff. It always came out muddy and garbled. Now it is crystal clear. I am going to record it and give it to my bandmates, who could not hear it before."

DR DDT strings deliver far more than just heavy gauges—they deliver impeccable bass tone.

5-String Heavy gauges: 55-75-95-115-135.

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning 5-String Heavy Bass Strings:

These work great except on my ibanez, I leave that ( f, c, g, c ,g) it isn't too bad (thin neck). If ya got a bit a flop in the drop these should help.

Great strings, even if you don't drop-tune

    By Rick Jacoby

    from Detroit, MI

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning 5-String Heavy Bass Strings:

In the interest of full disclosure, I am a DR endorsing artist. But I chose to endorse them because I truly believe they make the best strings I've ever used. At the same time, I realize that you have to have the right strings for the right bass, and your playing style and type of music you play also determine to a large extent which strings are right for you. I've tried almost every string they make, and they're all great, but not all perfect for every situation. These are definitely the right strings for me, though.

I currently play a Lakland 55-60 with a maple fretboard. I used to swear by the Marcus Miller Fat Beams. But then DR sent me a set of these DDT's to try, and I was blown away! The MM strings are great, but these are much more to my liking for what I'm doing right now. I play in a modern country band and I never down-tune. But the tension, stability, and sustain of these strings are phenomenal. They also give my jazz bass a hotter output, probably due to the density of the strings. If you like tight, stiffer strings that will sustain for days and sound big and fat, give them a try!
I'm giving quality an 9 because the build and overall quality is great, but they didn't last as long as I'd like. Unlike some strings that can lose tone over time, though, these pretty much sounded awesome for about a month (of playing 4 nights/wk) and then all of a sudden just didn't sound good anymore. Personally, I'd prefer it that way, rather than have strings that sound a little worse day after day. But I wish I could have gotten more use out of them.
When you find the right string, you have to have it. And these are a great value. And they're cheaper than the Marcus Miller strings that I also loved, so bonus! : )

    Good Change

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning 5-String Heavy Bass Strings:

I am very satisfied with these new strings. I have used DR High Beams on my Musicman Stingray 5 for years, but found these DDTs to be an improvement. Their down side is additional tension on the neck which required a truss rod adjustment. Their up side is noticeable improvement of B string and D string response and sustain. I plan to keep using them.

    LOW AND LOUD!!

    By Sam-ENv-j

    from Iowa

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning 5-String Heavy Bass Strings:

Fundamentally the best strings for a 5 string set up i have ever tried. Low B has tonal quality like no other while the extra large size truly do hold greater tension. Low A can be reached easily. Just buy them.
