I have been playing Bass for over 25 years and have used DR strings for most of that time. These are by far the best sounding set I have ever bought. Not sure about the long life yet as I have used them only for 2 weeks. I would recommend all Bass players to give them a try and find out for yourselves.

I put a set of these strings onmy old fender P bass last week,and I must say I love everything about them so far.I play a fairly simple and straightforward style and setup ,so I have never been overly concerned about scooped mids and high treble output.I am old I guess I do not like bright strings. They have the good low bottom end growl that suits my playing style,and still have the ability to "punch". They seem to be well balanced from string to string (in other words the low E string doen't blow out your ear drums out ,and you don't have to slap the heck out of the bottom G string to make it come alive.They are fairly tight and smooth (pretty easy on the fingers)I have been playing for about thirty eight years ,and I have tried practically every brand on the market. I have found that just about all new strings sound good, although some are clanky ,tinny,and un responsive. In a perfect world we could buy strings that sound wonderful,last forever,and cost practically nothing ,but that isn't going to happen is it. I gave these a four star rating because I haven't had them long enough to comment on durabilty. My biggest issue with all brands of strings is durabilty or longevity . I have never had a set of strings last for more than sixty days at best (especially A and D strings) ,and I know as much about proper instrument set up and care as anyone else. So far these strings have delightened an "old school picker" I would highly reccommend these strings, especially to those that play in a low groovin laid basck type of style. Although they don't last as long as I would like ,my other string of choice is Fender pure nickels. Like I said my set up is fairly siple. Fender P bass with Seymour Duncan pickups ran through a Galien Kruger MB 115 combo amp that is patched into the mixer. I am really satified with these strings thus far,but to each his own. Determine your equipment ,your style of music ,and your playing style, then find the strings that suit you

I've tried a good number of strings. Rotosounds, D'addario (regular XL and ProSteels), Ernie Balls, DR Hi-Beams, DR Lo-Riders. I tried DR after all those, and stuck with em. First was the Hi-Beams, then the Lo-Riders, and I stuck with Lo-Riders until 5 months ago when I tried the nickel Lo-Riders. I haven't changed them SINCE 5 months ago. They've lasted THAT long. With these strings, you'll get string consistency, long lasting, quality, and a sort of growl/tone you can't get in the steels. Lo-Riders were the closest I could get to my desired tone, but they were still missing something I couldn't put my finger on. The nickels had that "something". I'll never use a different string again. THESE ARE WORTH THE MONEY AND WORTH A TRY. DR products in general are fantastic. I use mine on a Peavey Zodiac DE Scorpio 4 string bass and Ampeg 220 watt combo amp with the special bass Monster cables.
