These strings are really good. I mainly use 9's which are excellent also, but wanted to go up a guage higher. These never broke on me. I've had them in for 6 months now. The 9's broke on me a few times. Excellent blues strings. Try them.

This is my second set of DR Pure Blues. The first set I got for my fixed bridge G&L ASAT. They lasted fine but I sold the guitar soon after so I can say for sure. The tone was just what I was looking for so I bought another set for my Bigsby (with roller bridge) equipped ESP XTone. One gig and two practices later, two strings out of this set have broken... Right at the bridge. The hi E was dead by the end of the first gig. Won't be buying again.

These strings are just.......AMAZINGGGG!!!!! I love the tone the strings bend with little effort....the feel better than any other string i have played in my opinion. And they aren't the most expensive strings out there.....get DRRRRRR'sssss!!!!!

I am really impressed by the improvement these strings bring to my guitar's sound, and agree with the claims for better string balance, and increased sustain. I can feel my telecaster resonating much better with this string change. The volume definitely increased with a beefier tone. It's now a fuller bodied sound across the guitar's range without any muddiness. When I bend strings it's much more musical with more of a singing quality now. Maybe it's some sort of nickel mojo formula that works.
What I actually bought these strings for was to help lower the string tension, which they improved once they were quickly broken in. They are much easier to bend than the previous brand. This really helps with hand fatigue. These cost slightly more than the previous brands I've used, but offer a big benefit to cost ratio. If they are durable I'll convert all my electric guitars to this brand. Big rewards for a small risk.

A longer string life, a brighter tone in my opinion. I've changed all 20 of my guitars over to them. Solid body, semi hollow, or fully hollow these strings deliver the bite you need.
Handmade, pure nickel strings. Vintage tone at a reasonable price. Increased string life.
I rate them at a 10. I changed over from Gibson Vintage strings, they just didn't seem to last. The DR strings are made to bend.
Part of the reason I changed over was a better string at a lower price point than Gibson's.

My suspicion is that commodity prices for nickel and other metals have risen to the point that they're beginning to impact the quality and cost of guitar strings. I've noticed by checking reviews, that other brands and makes have been affected as well.
They sound good, but they used to sound better.
I've used this brand of strings since around 2001, and I agree with the other reviewer who said they used to be made better. Around five years ago, new sets started regularly having intonation problems with the D-string on just about any of my guitars they were installed on, especially vintage-style Stratocasters. Also, the outer wrap wire on the D-string gets eaten through more quickly by the frets and the contact points at the bridge.
They're cheap, but they used to be cheaper.

Hey, read this before you buy. I just put these on my les paul with p90s, tone sounds great, not bright, but warm and mellow. But then the trouble started. The D string started to buzz everywhere, sometimes the A and E also. After spending 60 bucks on a professional to set up the guitar he said there is nothing wrong with the guitar, its the strings. I got 3 other sets and put them on three other guitars and guess what, same damn thing. I don't know how they did it but they make strings that consistently suck with fret buzz, true story. Pure nickel is the tone I want but not from these guys, TRY SOME OTHER BRAND, TRUST ME!

I have used these strings for as many years as they have been out. Have had them on all my strats & les paul guitars since then. About a year or two ago, they changed their packaging. That was about the time the quality dropped. Used to be, when I first strung the guitars, you could immediately hear the great tone and clarity of these stings, most particularly, in the G, B, and E unwound strings. After the packaging change, the difference was like night and day. The unwound strings were noticibly duller sounding. I still used them over the course of the past year. I had noticed that I was breaking B strings on a regular basis, before the sets were done. I never break strings, so I checked out the saddles on all my guitars to make sure there were no burrs. Nope. Further along, I noticed that all the B strings broke about 1/4" away from the bridges. I don't even play down that close to the bridge. Recently, I have switched to another all nickel string brand. No more problems. I really don't care if DR sees this. I won't go back to them anyway. What I do hope is that other manufacturers learn a lesson from this.-SP

I read forums, Musicians Friend reviews, and consulted my guitar tech; they all said DR Strings were the best strings on the market. Apparently, none of them used DR Strings!However, these strings do not last! I bought three pairs to re-string my guitars. All sets broke in some way within a week. A common problem I had was that the wound would become undone at the nut, and after a few bends. Something that really annoyed me was the breaking of my B string with String Saver saddles. My E string also broke mid-bend at the ball-end. I'm just happy that I didn't play a show in that week!It's a shame..they sounded amazing!

These are very well made strings and last a while. I play a mixture of blues, alternative, jazz and classic rock with the guitar I used the strings on. The guitar I put these on was an Epiphone Dot. The sound I received was very clear and loud, BUT they were too bright for my personal taste. I can easily see why people would love the sound, but personally, I prefer slightly darker strings. These strings would be great for a lead guitar player in classic rock, but I am not so sure on blues. All in all, they are great strings, just not for me
