Gauges 11, 15, 22, 30, 40, 50.

Rare Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings from DR Strings are a departure from the standard, good quality bronze string currently available -- not necessarily better, but possessing a new, different, and stronger voice. Hand-carved archtops, dreadnoughts, and good steel string acoustic guitars of rosewood, maple, and mahogany benefit from a distinct improvement in tone, depth, and sustain with a fatter, louder sound and a deeper bottom.

After being highly recommended on some Martin forums and with great reviews from buyers on this and other sites, I purchased these strings for my Martin HD-28. I was using Martin SP 92/8 Light strings and loved the tone and booming volume, but wanted a lighter string without going to extra lights.
After giving them a week of daily play, I am extremely disappointed in the harmonics and tone of these strings. The bass strings sound like a dull thud and have no volume. I followed the directions for bending the strings to avoid dead strings, but still they sound dead to me. The G string also slips out of tune while playing, despite being properly wrapped and wound on the tuning peg.
They seemed to get a little better after a few days, but not good enough. As soon as my new order of Martin SP strings arrive, these will be discarded.

Comments about DR Strings RPML-11 Custom Light RARE Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings:

I don't write reviews...however I just needed to say something about the DR Rare (medium light gauge) strings.

I was out of my usual DR Rare's and strung up one of my guitars - an OM built by a local Luthier - with what I had around, some John Pearse phosphor/bronze light gauge. Well, to make a long story short...after only 1 day I was making a special trip to the local music store to stock up on DR strings.

I play mostly blues and jazz and really appreciate the lower string tension and easy bendability of these strings. I find them to be plenty loud enough, even with the lighter rating (11 to 50).

For my playing style these are the best strings that I have tried.

    Nice sound, but expensive

Comments about DR Strings RPML-11 Custom Light RARE Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings:

These have a nice, warm tone, similar to the Martin Custom Lights I usually use, but the 2nd string ball broke off while tightening the string! These also cost more, so I'll stick with the Martin MSP4050's.

Comments about DR Strings RPML-11 Custom Light RARE Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings:

These are old styling (hex core and phos bronze) but feel like they've been built better (hand built duh). Very pleased of the tone I'm getting from these.
Highly would recomend these for anyone who wants the un-coated stuff. I opted for these after trying the elixirs my guitar came with and am very happy with the results. They definitly have a nice low end and good balance, but just feel nice to the touch and respond very well with my scgc d p/w.
They're handmade and the gauges are misleading, but they play ad sound BIG
They make a handmade guitar sound like a handmade guitar

    The Best so Far
Been experimenting with lighter gauge strings . Always used Diaddario 12-54 for years , all dreadnaught guitars. But the 11- 52 Diadarrios i wasn't overly impressed with . I bought a pack or RARE Phosphor 11-50s and thru them on a Cedar Garrison , an oh my ........They absolutely blew me away . the sweetest and LOUD / smooth , easy to play, what else can I say . Im taking a pair of the d's back to the store and exchanging them for the DR 11-50s , Sooo sweet they sound ...Hope they sound as good on the other guitars Alvarez AD90 , AD-411 , YAM 730s - been playing rock / pop for about 40 years.

Comments about DR Strings RPML-11 Custom Light RARE Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings:

When I first put these strings on I found them easier to chord and the tone was deeper, but my Yamaha had lost some brightness and volume in the upper range that I had enjoyed with D'Addario light gauge. However, after about an hour of playing time I noticed the tone starting to develop and the more I played the better they sounded. Now my FG335 sounds like something that costs 5 or 6 times what did. At this point, I am sold.

Comments about DR Strings RPML-11 Custom Light RARE Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings:

I purchased a set of these for a Fender T-Bucket 300 CE which had some old strings on it. I was going to record so I wanted a good sounding string to lay down tracks with. I put a set of these on and noticed right away they tuned easy and had a very short time of break in. They sounded great and within a half an hour or so I was recording a song with them. The response of the strings was very good and they had great clarity and presence being recorded by a small diaphragm condenser mic and took very little processing in the mixing booth to make it sit well in the mix. They sound good and play well and are not hard on the fingers.... depending on the guitar you have and the set up you are looking for these could be the strings for you.

Comments about DR Strings RPML-11 Custom Light RARE Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings:

For a while now I've been having trouble finding the right acoustic guitar strings. So, this last time that I placed an order, I decided to get some suggestion's. I told them that I was looking for some acoustic guitar strings that had the solid, heavy acoustic tone for rhythm, but also the playability of the lighter strings. He suggested the DR RPML-11 Rare Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings, so I gave them a try and they were exactly what I was looking for! I have finally found the perfect acoustic guitar strings that fit my style! I want to thank your customer service crew member, Jordan, for the great job he did in understanding what I was looking for and pointing me in the right direction!

Comments about DR Strings RPML-11 Custom Light RARE Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings:

I got these strings for my acoustic because I was tired of my Martin strings tearing up my fingers. The guy at the guitar store said that these were some of the softest strings that they had, and he was right. These are so easy to play. Easy to push down and they never break. Great quality and well worth the money. If you are looking for some strings that wont tear up your fingers, then get these. Geat for beginners!

Comments about DR Strings RPML-11 Custom Light RARE Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings:

I put a set on a recently purchased used The Loar LO215SN, which is a Christmas gift for my granddaughter. These strings provide punch with a lot of projection. This guitar has laminated maple back and sides, so it's already bright and these help that along. I'm sure they'll mellow some, but this guitar will be the loudest in the room. I like to bend strings and these are as heavy as I can handle for any decent bends or vibrato.
I have not had them on for very long, so I can't comment longevity.
