I've had my 2.00mm Big Stubby pics for over a year now based on some reviews at amazon and general advice on the internet. Some people waste this wonder material on frivolous things like bulletproof glass and aquariums, but Dunlop's using it as superhuman guitar pics which is its proper use.

They are the best pics I've ever used. The thickness where thumb and finger meet is aided with finger-friendly divots to make it easy to hold these pics in a secure, yet light and relaxed manner. The edge that meets the strings is glass hard, so the only give is from your soft tissues. That combination of lightly holding the pic and delivering picking force to the strings with minimal energy bleed results in better control of the material played (including more speed when desired).

Anything that can make it easier for me to do what I should've been doing years ago is a plus and these pics are a bag of plusses because of it. The 2.00mm ones have been so great that I want to try the ones and threes, too.

With many gift-giving occasions coming up in the Winter, throw out obnoxious hints that you wouldn't claw your eyes out if a loved one or friend got you some of these demonically wonderful pics. And some for me, too. Tell 'em I want some more and mail one of yours to me if you're too shy. Mail two of yours to me if you need me to obnoxiously drop the hints for you.

I've recently been using these with a guitar strung with Dunlop strings and the results have been very pleasing. Don't know if Dunlops other pics would work that way (and I don't want to go back to Tortex to find out), but it was like that time-travel effect when you put instant rice in a microwave. Only, with clean, ringing, crisp sounds and a lot less constipation.

If you're an alternate-picking addict or string-skipping smarty, you owe it to yourself and to everyone who might ever hear you (especially future generations) to use Dunlop Big Stubby pics. Even if you hate yourself and feel you deserve to be bitten on the nose by an angry bull hippotamus more than you deserve to make beautiful, brutal music, your obligation to this universe is using these pics.

I've been playing with these picks for a couple of months now, they were actually a reccomendation from my teacher, at first they were great but as I started playing faster.... and sweating more the pick slips VERY easily, another thing is ... the pick, as it it stubby (duh), it has somewhat of a curvature, this makes your tone warmer BUT doesn't allow you to play as fast and easy (specially on the lower E string)... if you don't mind these small details... amazing pick, as a matter of fact, my teacher has been playing regularly with a single one of these for over 2 years, I'm amazed he hasnt lost it yet...

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

Good quality and hold up well. Other picks I've tried wear down the tips quickly and pick up dirt off the strings fast. After two weeks the pick still looks new - no noticeable wear or dirt. The textured finger grip works okay but it isn't perfectly positioned for my grip. The polished gloss surface probably helps keep the dirt off but gets slippery after playing a while.

I bought these up for playing bass after reading about them on Talkbass. I like them a lot so far, but haven't gigged yet. The concavity (a word?) sets my fingers in a good spot every time. I'm normally a finger player but these work well for songs that sound best picked.

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

My favorite pick for both electric and acoustic guitars. Also use the 1 & 3 mm occasionally. The 1 mm is a bit more 'bendy' the 3 mm isn't more rigid perse but is thicker and thus has a different feel. All three corners can be used as can the edges.

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

I have two of these sitting on my head amongst a variety of other picks and reach for this one frequently. It has a glassy feel in the hand. Almost if you were picking with glass. Its fast on the strings and has a close sound to a metal pick. Between this one and my ice pick, its a subtle difference. The stubby produces a nice bright attack that cuts through. Brighter than tortex. The only thing is that the depression on the red one is not too deep and sometimes it'll fly off your hand so maybe better for home practice.

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

Since I seem to have kept coming back to these purple 3.0 mm picks, they are now mainstays for electric six stringing. Everything from Johnny Ramone style fast strumming, to intricate Brian May phrasing, this pick is the most versatile, and it sounds fantastic. The Lexan material it's made of, provides a shimmering tone with clean amp settings, and a biting/ripping sound when distorted, all with an almost effortless pick attack.

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

I'm one of thse people who's been playing on and off for years and never really bothered to consider how vital the right choice of pick makes to your overall sound, getting by with whatever I've accumulated via purchase, borrowed from friends, found on the floor, etc. LOL. A few years ago I started seriously experimenting with different picks, and now I've got literally dozens of different kinds for different purposes. I currently use the Big Stubby 3.0 on most of my electrics (Tele, Les Paul, Strat) and the 2.0 on my 12 string Seagull acoustic and mandolin. The 3.0 immediately improved the overall tone of my electrics: thicker, fuller, overall better balance across the strings, etc. A GREAT lead playing pick because it doesn't snag and rolls off strings easily, though I've since gotten used to using it as my overall rhythm playing pick too. The 2.0 is great on 12 strings and mandoins, as it supplies the right amount of clarity and attack needed while retaining a fullness of bottom. Yes, these picks may feel strange at first, but take the time to familiarize yourself with them. The rewards are worth it.

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

Ignore the picture. These are the clear red, blue, and green, Lexan Stubby picks. The picture shows nylon. I had been using a Fred Kelly Slick Pick thumb pick for years but this pick has better tone. I still prefer the thumb picks but when I use a regular pick, I rely on the Stubby.
