Comments about Dunlop PVP101 Light/Medium Pick Variety (12 pack):

My one complaint is that this pack comes with 2 nylon picks and 2 nylon max-grip picks which are essentially the same. They could leave out the two excess nylon picks and trade them for a bigger variety, I would have loved to try the gel or delrin picks. Even better they could have sent two sizes of Ultex and 2 Sharp.

As it stands this pack (they're all the same) comes with .60/.73 Tortex, .58/.71 Gator Grip, .60/.73 Nylon and Max-Grip, T/M Celluloid, .60 Ultex and a .73 Ultex sharp.

If you want what I just listed then this is for you! Personally these packs confirmed to me that I prefer Ultex for any size, any pick. Ultex has great sound, no floppy pick noise and by far the most durability. Nylon has always blown my mind by how fast it wears and how loud and floppy the pick noise is, not my taste.
At the sale price this a good deal, with a change in the variety it would be an outstanding deal.

              Good range of tone

Comments about Dunlop PVP101 Light/Medium Pick Variety (12 pack):

This bunch produces a good variety of tones; well worth the money spent. On my guitar and the way I play (meaning, not sure if this is generally true), I got the mellowest warm tone with the Nylon and brightest with Tortex and a little less so with Ultex. The prettiest Celluloid was kind of in the middle. Gator Grip was kind of slippery (powdery surface feel) for me. Those who are very comfortable holding the pick would like the ease of adjusting while playing; being a finger-picker for the most part, I find it hard to use. Max Grip was just that -- great grip; very close to the sound of Nylon if not the same; some might like the grip, but I found it too difficult to adjust while playing due to the tight grip.

I wanted to sport a fancy pick, but ended up liking the ugly duckling Nylon the best. Other picks would have a use at some point, but Nylon works best for me for now. It's a nice collection to have to try different ones now and then.

I've been using picks from another brand for a long time, so I wanted to try Dunlop after working with a Metal guitarist. This pack gives you many different picks to choose from for different sounds.
