It doesn't matter what type of music you are playing, these pre-amp tubes will clean up your sound and you will be very happy with what you got.
So I installed these in my Bugera 6260 with some JJ6l6 and WOW. I have a great clear heavy sound. I highly recommend these preamps. My highs are more clear and not as ear peircing. My mids are more defined and my lows are not muddy any more. I play Heavy Metal/Thrash Metal and I love my sound now. It is clear and defined but yet sill heavy and punches you in the face.
Have no problems with them.
These wheren't to expensive for the sound I am getting. Would easily pay double and not complain for the sound quality I am getting from these pre-amps.

Seems to be a good tube for the money. Output is average. Very nice balanced sound. No frequencies stuck out like a sore thumb. I have only had these tubes for a week and already have 30+ hours on them.
It's a pre amp tube. Not too many features
All of them I ordered have worked good and are pretty quiet. In terms of white noise
Good tube for the money. I have used tubes that have cost way more and this one is pretty good, and priced competitively.

Just like the title - tubes were ok, but there was almost no packing so they rattled around in the box. I'm surprised they still worked!

Comments about Electro-Harmonix 12AX7EH Preamp Tube:
Used in my Vox Valvetronix as an OEM direct replacement. I haven't seen any reviews of the Valvetronix, so I thought I would add this review.
Improved and tightened the bright crunch and punch on all amp settings especially the US High-Gain channel. Seems a little sloppy on the "really" low end unless you really dial in the Dist./Vol on the individual amp setting(US High-Gain). Sounds more and more like the "Slo" and even the 5150III(with the right pick-ups(SH-5)and other manipulations)
I say "guessing game" because you really don't know what you are going to get sound-wise. Tubes are, for the most part, consistent but may slightly vary. You would have to try different types of tubes personally in your amp with your gear instead of reading reviews. (Good thing they are relatively cheap)
Extremely pleased with Electro-Harmonix

Replaced the stock Fender tube in my Vibro Champ XD with this 12AX7EH. Balanced and clear tone with good crunch on the overdrive settings. MF shipped quickly in a well-packed shipping box.
Comments about Electro-Harmonix 12AX7EH Preamp Tube:
Excellent tubes for alot of applications!
I've been playing around and using Tube Amps for more than 30 years now. I have tried just about every 12AX7 or 12AX7 family of tubes available. These are very good tubes, If used in the right amp. What I have found is every amp, even the same models of the same brands are different in the way they respond to tubes. This means that you have to experiment to find what sounds good to you in your amp. I put one of these in the V1 in my Fender HRD and it was very "glassy" and articulate, however almost brittle sounding. Too much so for me. I then put it in my Kustom 5H Defender I just got too long ago from Musicians Friend and it was fantastic sounding! With that amp it sounds warm, clear and has just the right amount of clarity and growl at the same time. Incidentally I also tried this tube with the Gold pins which costs about $5.00 more. The Gold Pin tube is warmer, which is good for a bright amp, but in a naturally darker sounding amp like my Bassman it sounded Muddy. The original EH 12AX7 here though was great! My advice is to experiment within your budget and keep these tubes in mind as a great starting point!
Very Well made tube!
Very appropiate pricing in today's market! I do wish Musicians Friend would explain their grading system on tubes though, it is very different from other tube supplier's websites. Musicians Friend has very competitive pricing with everyone else, sometimes better, but their grading system is confusing when you are used to terms like "Balanced Triodes", "Matched and balanced" etc. Soft and hard really doesn't tell you much.

threw these into a vht ultra 6 head, two 12ax7eh and 6v6gt eh and woke this baby wright up.
higher gain, more transparency and musical. Brought the ok amp into the awesome realm.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix 12AX7EH Preamp Tube:
i was searching for a good preamp tube for my marshall jcm head. i find the ruby/jj ecc83's to be very vanilla sounding with decent gain structure. i tried some EI's and found them to be too crunchy/brittle sounding, with bite reminiscent of a distortion pedal. finally i tried the EH 12ax7's and BAM! this is the tone i was looking for! the electro harmonix are smooth, slightly darker, and have a syrupy-overdrive type quality to them. where the EI's sounded like a distortion pedal, the electro harmonix sound more like a tubescreamer (in terms of gain characteristics). with these being slightly darker sounding, i am finding that i have more play in my middle and treble knobs on the amp. i am also noticing that there is less white noise coming from the amp as well. highly recomended for the v1 and phase inverter positions.
it's just a tube.
if these came in under the $10 price point, it would definitely be a 10/10 on the value scale.
