The EMG-40DC Dual Coil Bass Guitar Pickup employs parallel placed coils (ceramic loaded) to produce a deep low end while maintaining clarity. All of the DC Models are beefy, brilliant, and have more than enough output. The DC also uses the ultralow-noise preamp designed for the EMG- JV model. EMG recommends an 18 Volt supply for extended head room. This EMG pickup uses a 40 Extended housing that is 4 inches (102mm).
Package Includes: EMG's exclusive Quik-Connect cable, prewired solid shaft volume/tone control set, output jack, battery clip set, and adjustment screws.

Adding this pickup to my 90's model Epi Ripper turns that Bass from a really good Bass to a great Bass. Super easy to install and nearly everything you need is in the box. I recommend you pick up a battery holder.

The sound is amazing. The diversity is unsurpassed. They withstand the test of time and rigors of the road. Give your bass a jolt of new life and throw some EMG DCs in it! These pickups are also available in 4-string (35DC) and 6-string (45DC) versions.
I've used EMG DCs for years. The clarity and thunder is absolutely unsurpassed. I have had them in basses with both active EQs and the standard volume/volume/tone setup, and I can still get a near limitless palette of tones from them. From grinding metal, to warm jazz tones (gotta turn down the highs on your EQ or turn down your tone control), these pickups do it all. They are soapbar style pickups, so they won't work in your P- or J-Bass, but if you own a bass with soapbars, you could definitely be in for life-changing tone!
I have one 5-string bass I've had since 1994, and had EMG 40DCs in it for years. I have had absolutely zero issues with these pickups, aside from the usual wear and tear on the pots over the years (which are easily replaced) and routine battery changes.
The price may seem like a lot for a single pickup, but considering the vast array of tones you get from them, it is well worth it!
