I bought this case at the same time as my EJ-200CE. At first I had a lot of trouble getting the guitar to fit, but I persevered and finally squeezed it in. It's a VERY tight fit, which is good from the point of view of protecting my guitar, but not so good for getting it in and out easily. I'm sure once the fur and padding "adjust" to the guitar, it will get easier. I concur with others about the smell, very strong and it has permiated into the guitar. I'm going to air it out and use baking soda as others have suggested. Some surplus glue around the edge is annoying, gets on my fingers. I also agree about the vinyl covering, very thin and won't stand up to gigging, it's an "occasional" transport case at best, more go a home storage solution really.

Finally, with the guitar inside, the lid doesn't line up properly, I have to push it to one side to get it to close. My concern is that this is putting strain on the hinges, of which there are only two, time will tell if it settles down or not.

Good case for the money ($89) and for my purposes, but buy the Gibson one if you're taking your guitar to gigs a lot.

Nice case, but doesn't fit my AJ 220.  Guitar isn't even close to snug, slides around a lot.  Had to put a  towel in the case to snug it up...

Epiphone Jumbo hardshell guitar case

Features:

A solid case with plenty of latches and storage box for strings, picks, etc.

Quality:

I own an Epiphone AJ 220S. They say the case fits both AJ and EJ models, but the AJ in the case has an inch of play side to side and back and forth, not a snug fit. (you can fix the problem with a small cushion or stacked polishing cloths).

The case is made fairly well, a bit thinner vinyl covering and shell thickness. (It's not a regular Gibson case, and made in China)

It only has two hinges to hold up the lid when you open it, a Gibson acoustic case has three,(I own both for comparison).

The glue smell was quite strong and irritating. I bought Arm&Hammer fridge baking soda deodorizers and put them in the case for two days, which helped, and then another 2 days just leaving the case open and also vacuuming it out to try to extract the odor. This got out about 75% of the smell and made it tolerable. Something should be done about this problem.

Value:

A pretty good value, as long as you solve the glue smell and pad the inside to keep the guitar from moving. One size does not fit all the guitars.

Overall:

Overall, it's a good usable case that needs a better fit and a better smell..much better than a flimsy gig bag.

Epiphone Jumbo hardshell guitar case

| Review By: Gary Black | 4 months, 23 hours ago

Features:

It says it fits AJ and EJ series guitars. I own an Epiphone AJ-220S and the fit is sloppy, but ok with 1 inch of play back&forth and side to side,so you have to cushion it to stabilize the guitar for a snug fit.

One size does not fit all very well,,just average.

Quality:

The adhesive smell is pretty strong when you open the case, and is not desirable. I have aired out the case for three days and used Arm&Hammer fridge deodorizers to try to eliminate the smell. There could be a better smelling adhesive, but it's made in China so who knows what they used. They need to improve this.

Value:

Case is made accurately, lid fits when shutting, latches work fine. Materials do the job but are a little lesser in quality. You will need to spend 150.00 to get a better case.

Overall:

Overall it is a reasonable purchase, needing improvement on the glue smell.

Got this case for my EJ200ce, and i must say it fits like a glove! I've never seen a guitar fit so nicely into a case. The case has cut outs for the electronics, which is an awesome feature. The inside of the case is actually a beautiful looking soft, plush-type material. Not an ugly carpet looking material like the pictures show. And the tab to lift up the (spacious)compartment is actually black...just sayin. The latches are really sturdy and secure, which is always a must. The only complaint I have is the outside. The outside is a kind of cheap "pleather" type material that really shows it's cheapness at the seems. I would think for how expensive this case is, the outside would be something nicer and more durable. But that being said, that doesnt effect your guitar being protected..which it will be in this pretty good case.
